Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don't struggle to maintain internal maps in real life or in games that are intentionally disorienting, so your mileage may vary! I also have aphantasia, so perhaps that's somehow related? I

Antichamber [0] is a masterclass in this type of spatial disorientation. I really enjoyed the way this game approached puzzle design and how it constantly subverted expectations. Another great one is The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. [1] I

A lot of people have already discussed the "presence" that a physical collection of books can have, so I'll touch on personalization. I adore public libraries, but one of the few downsides I find is the inability to mark up t

Interesting article! I'm reminded of the introduction to The Experience of God: Being, Consciousness, Bliss by David Bentley Hart. [0] It explains the central goal of the book—to provide a definition of God. Hart essentially argues tha

Great series! My job would be a whole lot more interesting if it took place in the world Stross created. Random recommendation: If you enjoy that style of writing, I highly recommend the podcast The Magnus Archives. It follows the story of

I'm not aware of any programs that do that, but personally, I'm reticent to use something like that. I've always found the idea of an algorithm managing personal interactions with friends to be rather artificial and dystopian

This is something I struggle with a lot. I have deep and meaningful relationships with quite a few friends, but there just seems to be a disconnect in my brain when it comes to reaching out to them. I'll think about them often, but tho

Thanks for sharing! I view things like perfect pitch as distinct from a strong musical recollection. With effort, I can transcribe music and eventually learn it, but it's a separate skill in my mind. The ability to "listen" t

Thanks for sharing some insight! I definitely have a similar experience with initial repetition for new albums and burning them into my memory. I used to manage all my FLAC files in a similar manner, but the benefits stopped outweighing the

Thanks for sharing! I definitely get in moods where I listen to a particular album a lot in a short period of time too. I try to vary my listening but sometimes there's just an album that feels right for the moment.

Thanks for sharing! I feel you on curating and self-managing FLAC files. At the end of the day, it just wasn't worth the effort I used to spend managing them all. I'm not sure what streaming app you use, but to accomplish your old

I'm curious about other people's experiences with how they choose what music to listen to. Many of my friends carefully curate playlists on Spotify, or listen to the playlists they make for you. Others listen to the radio and just

I never really made a connection with music getting stuck in my head, but I often get short phrases or words stuck in my head on constant repeat for days at a time too. The stress relationship may have something to do with it though. The ti

I would say that to a casual observer, i-frames (invincibility frames) from dodge rolling are not intuitive. Why would an attack clip through them just because they rolled? (or in the case of Elden Ring, mounted or dismounted their horse) I
