Brandon Sanderson has a decent quote from Secret Project #1, that makes me think a bit. > That is one of the great mistakes people make: assuming that someone who does menial work does not like thinking. Physical labor is great for the m

This seems like a pretty serious crime. I can't imagine anyone higher than an officer keeping classified documents, or even contesting that they have any or if they are classified at all!

I disagree, and agree with jallen. If nothing else, this is fraud! A voting ring like this has to be dismantled immediately, or else there will be significant ramifications, which im sure GP and expand on.

Interestingly, conservatives don't think it's a health risk at all, actually. [1] I'm not entirely sure what to believe, as my I haven't kept up to date with what my fellow HNers are preaching. 1: https://www.

So they say. As we've learnt over the years, what can we truly trust? How can we verify that these promises are kept? I read a good HN comment before, which could be inspiration for a comic or TV series: "Who watches the watchers?

Anchoring can also be used in other applications than just raising API costs - GP should revisit how they unequivocally declare their statements.

Yep, it's pretty alarming that a developer would toss away async when threading isn't a fit for all situations - what happened to the right person tool for the job? As a professional, I 'hate' some things too, but I'

I'd be careful - some users on this forum don't like it when others expend their energy to makes sure that headlines are accurate.

Then why did you specifically claim that you asked ChatGPT? These distinctions, while small, are important. Not really the type of mistake to make for a tech-savvy forum.

What recent reports have there been? It's arguable that report from 2015 might not be the best source. Now that proper American values are making their way into libraries, Christianity should boom, wouldn't you agree?

Correction: it's just Max now, not HBO Max. Moderators, can we look at fixing up the title here so it's more accurate?

Agreed. There's a lot of claims that are unsubstantiated as well as full of anecodes. It's hard to discern how this can lead to 'curious' discussion.

One thing great about HN is that the moderation team makes it impossible for the discussion to be infiltrated!

That's interesting. Unlike Reddit, maintaining an article's actual title isn't a priority on this site, and moderation is only too happy to change it at their whims. I'm surprised that the spelling wasn't corrected

I think what's most important is that "curious" discussion was generated out of your comment! Despite what you may think, I believe the discussion spawned out of it was a resounding success.

GP probably thinks it's important that anti-mask, anti-vaccine, pro-violence rhetoric makes its way to the top of the replies in the name of "free speech".

Define contact. I talk to my coworkers regularly, I am able to visit and support my local community businesses where I live (rather than a large, faceless city), I am able to socialize with my local community as well. I would avoid extrapol

CEOs are definitely something we should reconsider in this day and age. There's something about the kind of fiefdom that they command that I don't really know the term for it - immoral? Unnatural?

Working in a separate place than your home is a recent concept - humanity has worked from home far longer than in offices or workplaces. Consider farming, or craftspeople working their trade, as well as nomadic cultures. In what way is WFH
