I suspect Haskell's syntax isn't as much of an issue as the typical style that Haskell code tends to be written in; really short, abbreviated variable names, and very high code density.

Syntorial looks like it will teach you how to use existing synthesis software, but won't be that useful if you want to write your own?

That's not a problem if you're dynamically linking to a C library or at least one that provides a C ABI.

And if it's a proprietary piece of software and you don't have the source code? Or you do have the source, but the build process is too convoluted to figure out?

Servo also uses the SpiderMonkey engine for Javascript, which is written in C++, although also is hopefully battle-tested enough that there aren't too many bugs in it.

Any chance of a Linux version at some point? Edit: At least it seems to run well under Wine. I suppose a Linux version isn't too strong of a priority.

The fuel could be made on the Moon rather than carried over. And one could also use some sort of railgun, since there is no atmosphere to get in the way.

Yeah, we might not be capable of producing magnetic fields strong enough to noticeably alter the chemistry of anything. I'm not sure at what intensity the effects would begin to be noticeable.

Won't the strong magnetic field squish the electron orbitals somewhat, causing a minor effect on chemistry? (an even stronger magnetic field would be toxic, in a way)
