You're confused about the definition of minimum age- it means that you can't hire underage children. Let's call what you're saying to be a "soft" minimum age instead of a "hard" one. Then China has a "soft" minimum age of 18, and a "hard"

From a policy perspective, I think one justification for banning child labour is to encourage equal opportunities for children of poor vs. rich families. Because of the diminishing marginal utility of money, children from affluent families

So you think that there should be no minimum age at all? Would you be comfortable having 6-year-olds working in a factory, even if it's just for 1 hour/day? China sets an absolute minimum age of 16, and mandated special working conditions f

Completely agree. I'm on a bit of a slow connection and didn't have patience for the video to load. They should have a link to view an example web site.

Why would they host it on Network Solutions? The unfortunate reality is that we do not always have freedom of speech in fact. Most network hosts are not going to protect you if they're afraid of being sued. They should be using http://prq

This is possible by adjusting software settings. I noticed a huge difference when I changed the colour temperature of my monitor from 9300 K to 5000 K. It made everything look "warmer," as you describe. In addition to generally feeling le

In Toronto simply dialing "9" on a POTS will (apparently) connect you to emergency services. This is especially stupid since 905 is an area code. My sister once dialed "9", and stopped when she realized she forgot the rest of the number.

Just throwing a thought out there: What about an option that allows people to use etacts without storing their password. So every time a user wants to "refresh" their data, they would have to re-enter their password. The security advantage

Yeah, that little notice didn't really inspire much confidence for me. The biggest question is whether you trust them with your email & password, but unfortunately there's not much they can do to alleviate this fear.

This is a good thing. The public usually does not have access to such detailed data, so I'm glad that other companies are copying what OKCupid pioneered.

As far as I can tell, the only internal YC email there is Harj Taggar's, and he has posted it publically before: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1138652 The other two email addresses visible are the founders'.

I don't think your assumption is correct. Most Chinese social networking sites, by default, allow you to see a list of the most recent people who viewed your profile, and the exact time they viewed it at. It's probably a cultural thing, bu
