No one seems to talk about the elephant in the room: salary. Isn't a more experienced person going to cost more? Are you going to feel comfortable offering them a low salary (relative to their experience), because that's all you g

Why assume it is the "on-board" human (if there is even one) that has to resolve the situation? It could be a remote pilot (sort-of call center, except the people are trained to remotely drive cars, much like drones are piloted ri

Sadly, Apple isn't on https://canarywatch.org/ Did I miss another way to know about that information (that does not involve parsing all Apple documentation by myself).

I'm going to answer because it seems no one else bothered. You are being downvoted because calling Blablacar "just an idea, no execution" is like telling Dropbox is "just an idea, no execution". Blablacar have execu

Thanks, I didn't really consider this part of the problem. I thought, for "gadgets" (pc, smartphones and small electronics), DRM was a limited problem (I heard about coffee machines and cat litterbox DRM, and that's it).

Not a pro either, but I guess the risk, for an unplugged device, is about capacitor: they store current, and if you touch both ends of big one close to the alimentation, you are going to have a nasty shock. I had first hand experience of th

The title irks me a little: you already have the right to repair, provided you have enough knowledge. What the author demands is documentation. I would love more documentation, like anyone, but you don't really need any documentation t

It does, and most of Unix command line tools can be installed painlessly via brew or port (Mac package managers). There are reasons to install Linux on a Mac, but general purpose unix command line isn't one of them.

Why not get a smartwatch? Well, there are actually several reasons: - price. It is still going to be more expensive than a cheap dumb watch - lifespan. Electronics generally won't live more than 3-5 years on average. A good watch can o

What you get is basic knowledge about electronics using concrete circuits, and the parts to experiment yourself. I don't think the main value proposition are the parts: if you know where to look, parts are very cheap. It's more ab

It is great in theory. In practice, the last auto-update caused a WSOD on my site without any helpful debug log (both on WP and server log) until I manually disabled a (popular) plugin by editing its php file. I wonder how a less tech-savy

There are several advantages: - both 5V and 3.3V logic, meaning you can use pretty much any part without level shifters - analog inputs (which are really lacking on Raspberry Pi if you want to use sensors) - 4 USB host ports (only the Pi 2

Everything you described already exist, and is available to mass market. The fact that you don't have any (and anyone I know of either, to be fair, apart from lights in a few places), speaks a lot about how much the market is ready for

I would add Sleep to the list. I would be interested to know how it was ranked in your survey. Most people at hackathons don't acknowledge that they need to sleep, which is bad for both their health and their productivity.

The theory seems great. The reality is not. When you do that, you delegate your UX and proper functionning of your app to a third-party app. The UX can vary according the app. One thing is certain, it won't always be consistent with yo
