You should be looking at Rump kernels for this, specifically https://github.com/rumpkernel/rumprun-packages/tree/master/p... directory.

D is a viable alternative for C++; you still get to enjoy near native performance and cleaner FFI compared to Go, without giving up the features of a modern programming language.

I don't hate Go, as much as I detest the breathless fans of the language. I am a "former-ish" python programmer who now uses D for present projects with an eye towards Rust for building libraries and low-level system stuff. I

While it may be true, when it is posted without the proper context and an unbiased way to assess the outcome, this presentation will be used as "proof" that Go is better than Python. (which it might be, but not everywhere)

This looks like a report written by someone who is trying to show how their $favorite system is better than the $other one. Best opensource the code for both and the benchmarks and have people go at it.

Interestingly, ALGOL failed because it was too complicated to implement.. And Djikstra played a huge role in the formulation of that language. Why aren't you using ALGOL?

D has replaced Python for my regular programming. D is the sweet spot for Python programmers to upgrade to without going backwards to Go (Programming language design wise) nor weighed down by all the new (and very good) stuff in Rust. D has

I written TeX embedded in markdown the time with Pandoc for reports and papers. It's much easier than writing all TeX.

The issue is with the moderator changing the link from an inner page pointing to (IIRC) http://www2.lib.uchicago.edu/keith/ocaml-class/userdefined.h... to the top level course page.

Ah yes, the "functional" and "object oriented" Javascript, how I love thee. When you are starting out, convenience and familiarity (which are visceral) can trump abstract notions like "pure", "correct"

There are two things here: 1. "unfamiliar" syntax. Well... It is unfamiliar if your first exposure to programming stopped at Java. Guess what .. pattern matching is quite an old convention in programming languages old (Prolog, Er

Looks like OCaml was not your first language. I suspect you are coming from a imperative language background. OCaml is slow? and your recommendation is to use Haskell instead... That doesn't compute well if we were to assume that you a

The critique of ZedShaw's book appears to be > Too many factual problems and a presentation that gets you to do things wrongly before being shown how to do it correctly, and not even always then. Eh?? Isn't that the whole point
