Will drop this here in case you’re not aware of it (but I’m guessing you probably are), sorry if a bit off-topic. I’m low-vision and made great use of Microsoft Soundscape until it got discontinued. I’d been waiting for an alternative for

I mean I would hope at least one person actually reviews the code before it goes out, but yeah we all know what hope does :)

This is actually one thing I think will be great as AI coding agents get better. Companies whose main expertise is hardware might start producing better software. There are so many little bugs in consumer-facing apps that hit the ‘sweet’ s

Curious as an outsider what you mean with US politics? Seems like Apple has a pretty strong stance when it comes to things like privacy that pushes back on some things (that could be smoke and mirrors though I guess).

For me at least I always remember it being referred to as 16-bit, in all the gaming and computer magazines etc. Part of the 16-bit home computers; I remember the Atari ST being referred to that way as well. I don’t remember seeing referenc

How does it compare to Blender’s VSE? I’ve used both for different tiny projects but I’m interested to hear from anyone using them more in-depth.

I’m thinking there’s probably degrees to it. Like there is some stuff I absolutely want to hand craft, but then other stuff I don’t mind so much. One of the interesting discussions at work (I’m in gamedev) has been about tooling and where

That’s pretty fair, I’m currently in the “trying to get over the feeling that it’s cheating” phase and also just haven’t formed the habit yet of reaching for AI as a tool in my toolbox; particularly in things like pre-review AI-assisted cod

That in itself feels like second-system syndrome but instead of playing out over a single software project it’s the large-scale version playing out over the entire industry.

Good point and I’m exactly at the same point as you with this. Working on letting go of the idea (and to be honest just the habit) that it’s somehow ‘cheating’ at the moment.

It’s so strange. I think there’s a few different groups: - Shills or people with a financial incentive - Software devs that either never really liked the craft to begin with or who have become jaded over time and are kind of sick of it. -

EDIT: Sorry I realised you were asking more about categorisation and not downloading. —— The closest thing I can think of is Tube Archivist, which seems made for archiving large YouTube collections, including things like comments on videos.

It seems like it wasn’t really a binding contract? At least the OpenAI one, some are saying it was more a letter of intent kind of thing?

I guess if enough people use it, doesn’t the tag become kind of redundant? Almost like writing “Code was created with the help of IntelliSense”.

I was never incredibly disturbed by 60Hz though I did notice it. You reminded me of something I had forgotten though — remember when 100Hz / 120Hz TVs first became a thing? That I noticed! I think most of my PC CRTs ran at 72Hz /

Same here, I very distinctly remember the first time I got to use desktop-class LCD monitors (it was at a new job at the time) and four things stood out: - The screen size. Going from a 17” or maybe 19” CRT at home to a 19” LCD but without

I agree with this, but I don’t trust that it will stay this way. It always seems like there’s no real way to ‘get ahead’. They’ll always find a way to make the system cost such that it barely pays itself off, by introducing fees or cutting

There’s a whole world out there that doesn’t seem to be addressed by the original comment. On one end of that scale you have things like bespoke software for small businesses, some niche inventory management solution that just sits quietly

I’m bored of people on YouTube talking about it, that’s for sure. Everythink devolves from “cool that was a nice single video” to “here’s my schtick…. AGAIN”.

It’s kinda easy to justify though from a financial standpoint. If the parking meters take cash, you need all the hardware to accept and secure the cash. Then you need somebody to go around at some point and actually physically collect the

If you can get used to using it (which really just requires some practice), the screen magnifier on Mac is fantastic and most importantly it’s extremely low latency (by this I mean, it reacts pretty much instantly when you want to zoom in o

There’s a solid use case for matte screens. I use an 800R curved monitor and there’s absolutely no way that would work for me if it wasn’t matte. I know this because when I glance over at my coworker’s 1200R glossy screen it’s like lookin
