No I have no intention of raising any money. You need to set your sights a bit higher if you think this is a startup.

This was my experience exactly. I started a project with Angular and got the basics set up without difficulty. When it came to integrating Google Maps, it was a nightmare and I switched to Ember. It took me a little while to figure out "The

Hope the Ribbon guys manage to get it resolved. I think it's a great use of the Twitter cards feature and am slightly baffled as to why Twitter would even give developers access to the feature, if only to shut them down immediately afterwar

There was originally only one shirt that was not identified as male or female. One of your fellow commenters asked if there was a female version of the shirt available, hence the inclusion of a shirt with that description. The "men's" shirt

Just to be clear - Fork My Dongle has no affiliation with Girls Who Code either. We absolutely plan to donate 100% of the profits from this shirt campaign to them, though.

AFAIK we haven't quoted the original remarks and the phrase on the shirt is a nonsensical paraphrase of what was said. Part of the intention was to neutralize the words. Really, it's just a bit of fun and the best outcome would be to raise

I'm sorry you feel that way. There was really no intention to be mean spirited. As a software engineer myself I definitely want to see more women in tech. I've seen a lot of interest in the donglegate story over the last couple of days and

There was really no intention to be mean spirited. The idea was just to shift the focus onto something relevant. Girls Who Code is a great cause. There's no need to buy a shirt to donate.

We intend to give the money to Girls Who Code. In the event that they do not accept the money we'll look for another charity that supports women in tech.

Oh I'm sorry about that. I thought that Teespring would give users the option to select whichever size they wanted. I'm creating a new page for a women specific shirt size.

This is interesting. What if all homeless people in SF were issued a cash card. The balance of the card would be controlled remotely and it could be (de)activated at any time. People who want to help the homeless could pool money together a

This would be great and I'm sure it will come to fruition sooner or later. I wonder what will happen to the auto insurance industry when self driving cars are prolific. Undoubtedly they'll be logging this kind of data constantly.

This hasn't been my experience so far working as a software engineer in the valley. I've worked with/know several gay engineers and startup folks. To be fair, I don't know whether the proportion is representative of the wider population or

Couldn't agree more. Having built a range of Drupal sites on a freelance basis, I can confirm that you can do crazy amounts of work with just a few clicks of the mouse. The moment you realize you need to customize, however, is a dreadful on

Yes, the articles and all of us in the comment thread are recommending pre-compiling. There's a rails configuration option that enables run-time compilation of uncompiled assets - this is referred to both in the rails guide and in the linke

I think there are a number of factors which will affect the outcome, including: - number of $(document).ready() callbacks that check whether the current file should run within the single application.js approach. This could grow to be an iss

Yes I guess that would be the right metric. You'd need to look at average time to render over a number of deploys with both strategies. I'm pleased to see articles approaching this subject as there's definitely not enough solid discussion a

One more thing - if you concatenate all of your javascript files into a single application.js, the cache will be invalidated every time you make a change to any of your javascript files. I think all in all, this is a bad approach.

I dislike the approach described where one concatenates every single javascript file into application.js and then tests for the presence of particular dom elements or classes within each file. This taxes the creation of new scripts somewhat
