I buy DVDs. My data cap is too low to stream, and I can't get a higher one. (I've tried.) Netflix and whoever licensing shows for streaming only really pisses me off because then there's no way for me to watch those shows.

Eh. I'm not sure if Japanese<->Chinese is that good of an example either; Chinese is sort of the Latin of Japanese. Even though it's grammar is different, China had a huge cultural influence on Japan, and both its writing

It doesn't have to be so big. Modern GUI toolkits are just really bad about keeping their sizes down for some reason. I wrote my own personal GUI toolkit on top of OpenGL/GLFW for developing special purpose editors (for gamedev)
