Most of those were a complete waste of money. Seems like the majority of the big money acquisitions did not live up to the hype.

I've been looking for something like this. Originally I had planned to do it with Python, but Python only seems to allow one interpreter at a time. Does anybody know if it's easy to make new functions available to PHP that would c

Profit can't go to salaries, or else it wouldn't be profit. If the question is actually revenue, it completely depends on the business. How much marketing, sales, support etc the software requires.

If I could do it all again, I'd study a lot more math in University and probably end up focusing on something like Audio DSP. I think it's a pretty safe career choice since it's hard self learn compared to a lot of other fiel

Yup, me too. And it's the worst code I've ever written. Miranda IM. Millions of downloads, popular for 14 years. I got bigger than I ever imagined it could. What have I worked on since: ACDZip, ACDSee, Tracktion, EAW Resolution, S

I just checked, it's not there. But it is on YouTube and my old Geocities page has been mirrored. You could find it if you wanted too, but it's not worth the effort.

When DistroKid launched, I put a song on iTunes, Amazon and Spotiy. So far it has had no sales, but 3 streams, earning me 2 cents. I highly suggest everybody streams 'Goatsemon - Penis Bird' or buys it on Amazon. http://

Samsung takes 95% of Android profits. HTC, Motorla, LG, Sony etc get to fight for the rest. I wonder how long Google is willing to be Samsung's R&D department for free.

I think it's terrible as well. I have 2 21" monitors and I need to look for my apps in the bottom left corner of one monitor using tiny icons. It could be improved greatly, and still be in Desktop mode. Yes, the terminal is terrib

On a related note, when did it become OK for an App to ask for your credit card number to do in-app purchase? I thought that wasn't allowed.

I find it fascinating to watch how companies reputations and image changes. Apple was considered 'beleaguered' for a long time after they were making tons of money. They are still considered to be 'about to fail' by many

In a somewhat similar vien, a while back I was putting some code I wrote in University (1995-2001) on GitHub. One of the C projects just needed 1 linker flag changed. The Prolog didn't need any changes. I was pleasantly surprised. I wa

I don't find this true at all. Lisp for example has tons of people blogging about it for the size of it's user base. Other things like firmware and DSP almost no experts are blogging. There are hobbyist, and that's about it.

For Microsoft, it doesn't matter how many people are using PCs, it's how many are buying them. If usage is down, replacement time is up and OS price is down, how is that anything but bad for Microsoft? There are still a lot of XP

My only complaint is iOS apps know if the permission is denied, so every time you switch to them they can ask you to enable permissions which is annoying (Facebook messenger). I wish they just returned no data.
