Its easy to forget why Chavez/Maduro got in power in the first place because for most people its ancient history by now. But Venezuela is not a Paradise gone bad. It was always a bad deal for anyone who was non wealthy and didn't

I always let packages ship to the local supermarket. Actually feel bad for delivery guys who have to go to every single adress when its much more efficient to collect stuff at a central point. And how many people are not at home during deli

Postal service in my country is good enough to guarantee next day delivery without Amazon Prime bullshit. Free delivery Amazon, get on it.

Yep the heart of the matter. Techies thought the internet would be an end to gatekeepers and influencers. They were wrong. The Internet did not change humans.

"I was just angry and frustrated and sad that you can’t make cool shit for the internet anymore and make a living". The internet existed before people made money from it. Plenty of cool shit back then.

Most countries will happily throw anyone under the bus if the US intelligence services ask them too. Besides if you're doing something the NSA doesn't like local law enforcement probably won't like it either.

I used to think this too but heating costs are expensive in the UK. My own country has a very large supply of natural gas in the ground so its pretty cheap to get through the winter. The UK has to import.

If it acts like a keylogger its a keylogger. When people want privacy they will inevitably have to give up usability. I ditched Swiftkey for an open source Android keyboard that doesn't connect online or asks for any permissions. Its C

With Brexit the UK will likely drop the human rights treaties currently enforced by Strassbourg. This isn't just a US problem by the way. There have been court cases involving extradition to Belgium.

Well its difficult for the EU to go after US companies. Take Facebook, they have a direct line to the US administration and before you know it there's a diplomatic incident going on.

American companies are kinda pissed, but they can always decline to do business here. Unlike the US the European Union doesn't claim to police the world.

Well my country DOES try to balance the budget because otherwise the interest rates on the bonds we put out has to increase. But the US is special, it is virtually exempt from the normal laws of economics due to its superpower status.

The US never pays back, they re finance the debts. Ad infinitum. I mean does anyone think that at this point the US could STOP the deficit? Let alone turn it into a surplus and start buying back debt? US is too big to fail and rich people h

America is a tough nut to crack. People like BIG cars, the roads are kinda crappy, fuel prices are lower than in Europe or Japan and travel distances are long. I wouldn't want to drive a Nissan Leaf in rural Maine.

If you are a benefit to society prove it. Pay slips should do it. Easy. Nobody likes mass immigration in Europe because unlike the US everyone is entitled to housing, healthcare, education. That adds up. And we don't have much need for

I don't know man Tesla brings out the worst in people. My take: Tesla is a new car builder running into the same problems as every other new car builder. They're not better or worse. Making good cars at volume is hard. The conspir

I know what you're talking about and feel the same. If you block marketing you are blocking a part of society. It reminds me of a Christian friend who never watches television.

I think people who use ad blockers, like myself, KNOW all about how advertising works. Oh yes most certainly WE KNOW. That is why some of us choose to block them. I limit my exposure to marketing as much as I can.
