Aye here in the Netherlands because of the extremely high traffic density they have to do maintenance on highways every 7 years. When they planned the road network nobody imagined that there would be so many automobiles. First world problem

To people who haven't been to Germany: the roads there are not great. Germany did the same thing as the US has: cut funding. You never EVER cut funding on infrastructure. Not even in a recession. It will come back to haunt you.

The alternative is America getting its act together and change their cities into Singapore/Tokyo/Hong Kong. Good luck waiting for that. Infrastructure is not something the average citizen seems to give a fig about.

The problem with the EU is that small, non corrupt and transparent countries like mine can be overruled by MEPs from Romania.

Americans think government is evil and all that. So there's no government rescue plan to build more housing because that's commie talk. So everyone's waiting for the market to fix it.

Ah yes but Tesla is an American company and the media darling. In the real world Tesla is small time. They make only 100k cars a year and their research is being outpaced by the big corporations.

Reminds me of good old Johannesburg where the maids, nannies and cooks had to get up at 4 in the morning for the long bus journey to their work place.

Is there a good reason why we shouldn't club together as rich countries and fund a not-for-profit drug research body that does fund this sort of thing? This already happens with major threats, there was Ebola that got solved quickly. K

Keep in mind everything is online now. In the olden days you didn't need things like patches or firmware updates. Once a console was hacked you were golden.

Keep in mind the war was enacted by a democratically elected government. There's no diminished responsibility. Very few folks decided to return their passports and emigrate. People liked to blame the Army but everything that happened w

I'm using AnySoftKeyboard now. Data mining and machine learning just doesn't sit well with me even though it can't directly be traced back to a individual. At the end of the day all of it will be used for one thing: selling m

Oh yeah after ditching Swiftkey I was looking for a new keyboard on my phone. So rare to see apps without asking for permissions these days. Don't see that with Gplay.

"It would just break all ads all the time" Sounds like a feature not a bug. Anyways I'm sure tech savvy folks who care about privacy and hate ads already have all the basic angles covered. I know I do!

IDK what your stance is on piracy but you can try out Enterprise LTSC. It only gets security updates. I just want a fast, stable, and lightweight OS. Not really interested in design overhaul or features I'll never use.

Actually here in the Netherlands the health care insurers do exactly that. They negotiate HARD. Funny enough big pharma is usually willing to lower the price for meds. They make up for it by overcharging Americans I guess ;) Same with hospi

Reminds me of how every "expert" said Trump wouldn't win. It was amusing how everyone was surprised to find out there's a whole landmass between NY and California. Fly over country for sure but eligible to vote.
