As much as I do support free software, there is a limit. Just because I can run free software doesn't mean it's always the best option for me. Running your own servers isn't free, especially if the task is more specialist. Sa

I've noticed that channels tend to be used as a sort of garbage bin, such as the popular 'memes' channels. If any of your friends are insistent on spamming them constantly, you can just direct them to the waste channels to ig

It's funny that crappy is the same as stimulating, if the offices were perfect then there'd be nothing other than work to think about. I wonder if that's why I most enjoyed the school classrooms with oddest chairs and tables

I imagine that it could cause accusations from Apple that Google is trying to take their customers out of the ecosystem, putting a nice cash flow at risk.

They just all need to have the latest shiny thing, spurred on by the idea that a huge amount of abstraction is a good thing. Abstraction is great, our modern world wouldn't exist without them, but it's a website. Let's put ou

I wonder what would have to be done to turn it around. The B.S. detectors seem to be less effective during panic and stress, so marketing must be booming right now thanks to the pandemic.

I believe that people themselves aren't as gullible, but rather that we now know how to manipulate people much better. Huge companies like FAANGs only exist because of human manipulation, there's entire fields dedicated to manipul

I was puzzled over why trampolining is used, so a quick look shows it was used for tracking notification clicks. Anybody know why these analytics are sometimes handled before the view instead of inside it?
