I really don't like this idea that artists should be compensated for having their music listened to. I find it hurts the consumers, and it will hurt the artists in the long run. Basically, I don't think the concept of intellectual

Books are about communicating experiences. A great book can give you the knowledge it would take years to get by personal experience alone. If anything, people involved in programming don't read nearly enough. We have giants on whose s

As described in plenty of comments in that thread, that experiment was not in basic income. Minimal income and basic income are different in fundamental ways, and could potentially lead to fundamentally different behaviours.

I think we need to experiment with this before deciding whether it's a good or bad idea. A whole country is probably not the way to start, though.

I've used XCode for hundreds of hours. It's very lacking in functionality, I'm not going to copy and paste my other comment. Interface Builder is very nice, I will give it that. I did have it break on me once or twice(wouldn&

The other IDE's I've worked with for any significant amount of time are Eclipse, Visual Studio, and various flavors of IntelliJ. Eclipse is the worse of the bunch, but it has a few important features that XCode doesn't. Supp

I have to ask, because I feel XCode is the worst IDE I've ever used. What about it is pretty awesome? Instruments is pretty cool, though.

Even in Objective-C, the refactorings available are pretty limited and don't always work. You can do Rename and Extract Method. In a few corner cases, Extract method will break. Forget about extracting a variable or a parameter, of pul

Not even a mention of refactoring tools for Swift? Right now you can't even do a Rename. This was one of the biggest reasons I bought Appcode, actually. And I'm still waiting for either IDE to implement Extract Method. It boggles

That's very personal. I really enjoy the rustle of a bus engine. It makes me dozy in a very pleasant (if inconvenient when I have to get down) way. Trains are great for transportation, but I don't enjoy the trip as much.

The thing about normality is that if a number is normal, it will contain all books not only for a given encoding of a book, but for any given encoding of any book. That is true only for normal sequences, of which pi is assumed to be an ex

Your definition of a sport would exclude Magic: the Gathering, and I guess also poker. I don't think I agree with a definition that claims StartCraft is a sport but excludes those.
