I really like those that you can find in Switzerland (either in Coop or Migros). The basic assumption is "trust the customer". Thus, the self-checkout devices don't have the annoying "you must weight the article you just

Yeah, it's really strange to have an heat pump without automatic defrost, as it's something that's really needed on cold and humid days

The radiator upsizing makes sense, but there also exists high temperature heat pumps (~70C) that work with "old" radiators

I (self installed) a heat pump and I love it. Sure, it's not really efficient (COP ~1.5) when it's -10C outside, but this happens 1 day per year. Most of the time the COP is around 4: that means that it uses 1kWh of electricity to

> Inappropriate for many (possibly most) dwellings in the UK Why ? UK is well above freezing (and even them, heat pumps _work_ below freezing, even with a COP > 1). So I'm curious about your assumption

IMHO we should also look at EROI (energy return on investment), which Wikipedia cites [0] to be around ~20, that is a wind turbine will produce 20 times what it cost to make it. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy

I agree. Also, our planet is limited. Thinking that we can increase production infinitely ( good economist point of view), is just physically impossible
