Looks like pure bullshit or utter incompetence. Yeah, your mountain is actually at 12°C, but with 50kW or more of processing power, you're actually creating an oven if you haven't got ventilation or cooling. Stupid

Yes, but china has _much more_ inhabitants than the US. Per capita numbers are not misleading in this case as we want to know the mean commitment of every person.

That's completely false. For example, the per-capita CO₂ emissions in 2013 were of 20 tons/cap for the US, whereas it was 8.5 for China (world mean is 6.3): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_g

I don't know where you buy your led light bulbs but here in switzerland you usually have three choices (white, warm white, and something yellow-ish). I find the warm-white nuance quite pleasant. Then, if you still want another colour,

For anyone curious, there's a cute youtube series that the ESA made explaining what is rosetta, philae and what do they do. It's targeted for kids, but I loved it too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trljrwTbr4w&am

CICO is not exactly true. Not all calories are equal. Fat calories, for example, are much less absorbed by the body than carbohydrates.

If you work in something related to physics (energy, maths, chemistry), I can not recommend `units` enough. As a small example: You have: 10 kcal / g * 24 kg * .13USD/kWh You want: USD * 36.261333 It's so useful wh

As a repair café volunteer, I've found two drawbacks to being a volunteer/having repair cafés: - A small subset of people buy shitty products (1$ bicycle lamps, lights, cheap-as-shit appliances like clocks, hoovers, …). I have no

Very ignorant question, but could it be possible to artificially start an earthquake in order to prevent "power build-up" ? Like many small man-made earthquakes spread over a decade instead of a big natural one. It's how it&#

Coming from Europe, I've never seen an AC unit expressed in BTU/hour. To me it seems much more logical to express it in kW. The only "strange" (but correct) notation was on a french train, the AC was expressed in kcal&#x

I know two datacenters in switzerland that instead go "the cheap way". For them, if a drive lasts 4 years instead of 8, it doesn't really matter, as in 4 years, drives will de better and consume less. Your redundancy must be
