You break a lot of laws every morning while driving to work; doesn't mean your moral choices on average are worse than someone else.

In Switzerland I've always changed the locks to my apartment and its garage. 1) The landlord is _never_ allowed to enter your house 2) In an emergency, the firemen would just break the door.

I robbed things when I was young. Yet I consider myself successful now and no longer a criminal. So yes, people change. And fuck your mindset

s/because/thanks Our current legislation gave us a relatively "clean" frequency space. Would be so much worse without it

Thanks for the info; I'll fix that on my machines. Though I don't know why they would "break userspace" like that.

I hate systemd-resolved because it uses glib's resolver. The problem is that this resolver doesn't understand root queries. That means that `dig +trace` doesn't work anymore, and you have to use an external server for the roo

Trenches _do_ work, but they must have a minimum depth (>20cm), not just 8cm ones like Google tried.

You pay per capacity, not per data transmitted

And to be more pedantic, it's actually kVA and not kW. Or kW with a power factor of 1, but that is (almost) never the case

Please, in the future use "UTC" and not "GMT". GMT is defined by UTC, but not the other way around ;-)

The three body problem book part 2 also explores a fully transparent society; It's really interesting with all the sides effects (They can't lie, etc.). I recommend anyone to read it !

What's your point ?

European here: our (mobile) phone numbers are "random". Are yours too or are they matched to a subscription area ?

What are they used for ?

by Faaak 8y ago
As a parallel question: does that mean that permanent magnet motors degrade their performance over time ?

by Faaak 8y ago
the European market is, at most, at the quarter hourly resolution, so having a finer resolution would be pointless for the pricing

You can also give the technician the property's renter's phone number and let themselves coordinate.

by Faaak 8y ago
I see two options: 1) You announce before 24h, and therefore the renter can lend you a set of keys 2) You come unannounced. If it's an emergency you can break the door. If it's not then you've got no business being there.

In Switzerland at least: no. It's considered the same as painting the walls: they have to be identical when you move out. In the meantime you do what you want. But frankly, I would do it even if it was forbidden, as long as the door wo

I suppose that the lock only talks with a central server via an encrypted connection, so you wouldn't see any proof

First thing I did when I moved into my flat was to change my locks. I bought various cylinders that open with the same key. Thus I can open my garage, my flat, and my other small spaces with the same key. Advantage too: the previous tenant

Which services do you use ?

by Faaak 8y ago
I could rent, on go on other service, but you have to agree that it's way simpler to go on a pirate site and download a movie.

Frankly, I find so much netflix-shows on netflix, but rarely good movies not produced by them. I wanted to show my GF Star Wars... but it wasn't on it. Same for James Bond, Die hard 4, Oblivion, MI1, etc. It's a shame, really. I
