I guess that's true to a point, but Boyd was singularly focused on ACM, maybe even obsessed with it. Which is understandable given his background. I guess it's fortunate that technology continued to advance to the point where the

The F-18 and F-15 prototypes were competing for the same job. F-15 won and MD managed to salvage their investment and sell the YF-17 to the Navy as the F-18. The F-16 was the card up Boyd's sleeve that nobody saw coming but couldn

Col. Boyd must be spinning in his grave! One of my favorite books: https://www.amazon.com/Boyd-Fighter-Pilot-Who-Changed/dp/031... There's a lot about what's wrong with aircraft procurement in this book

This is a great exercise -- well done! What I try to convey to my students: * We write programs to solve problems. * The program is a model of the real-world problem. * The better our model is, the easier it is to solve the problem. * Objec

I did the same thing. I use Syncthing for a bunch of thing and it really works well. I'm in the process of rebuilding my offsite backup machine with it. I make a local backup of all my digital pictures and will soon use Syncthing to

Dropbox lost me (100% Linux user) when they decided that ext4 was the only file system they supported. I've very happily moved over to Syncthing. For a small installation you could use a VPS at Digital Ocean or Vultr. You could even g

As a longtime Linux user I felt snubbed for when Dropbbox decided that ext4 was the only file system that they were going to support. God forbid that Red Hat decide that XFS was the default file system in RHEL7 and Dropbox couldn't mak

I recommend this to my students frequently. I teach an intro to programming class to college students who have no experience. Inevitably, some try to use PyCharm and they just get lost in it! I tell them it's like learning to drive i

How's the vibration? I've been a fixed-wing pilot for many years. I recently sold my share in a 182 and have considered a gyro for many of the reasons listed here. All the YouTube videos I've seen look like the thing is go
