The SheevaPlug is cool, but it seems like the newest ones have gone a slightly different route and thrown everything you could possibly want at it - wifi, bluetooth, audio, etc? That's all nice stuff, but just adds to the power and price fo

Yes you could, I've been experimenting with running a server on arm for a couple of months and its surprisingly capable. Node works well on arm because of all the effort google make for v8 to run well in Android

Sorry about that, the blog is hosted on linode, who had scheduled a reboot for tonight, which turned into a 2 hour outage... The colo I picked only charges for electricity and excess bandwidth, which is why I picked them. It cost £50 to ins

Yes, it's been very reliable for me. It ships with angstrom Linux, but it's trivial to install Ubuntu. I've got it hosted in a collocation rack now, so it had better stay reliable :-) I've written a short blog post about it http://www.ewa

I think this post was written mostly as a joke, right? First of all, it was written in 2009, secondly it starts: Now this is really really eerie stuff. Today I came to office wearing my “Holland” T-shirt. I normally never wear this shirt to

You can't see this unless you're set to United States in your preferences, but it does look extremely like old Google, which is no bad thing.

I can well imagine that newer machines have it, and older ones don't, and slowly over time they'll end up with everyone using ECC. The costs involved were a lot higher 3-5 years ago than they are today.

I don't think there's a confirmed source, but there's certainly indications, for example, an AWS post that they use ECC memory for the GPUs in their cluster GPU instance http://aws.typepad.com/aws/2010/11/new-ec2-instance-type-the... Give

A bit silly yes, but nginx.org doesn't support https, which is slightly more silly and rules out most other options.

No problem, no offence taken :) I only picked the micro because it's cheap, and AWS let me fire one up, build the config, break it, trash it, and start again, all in rapid succession. One thing though, this configuration doesn't actually ne

Mmm, your right it'll cost something, though AWS free tier covers 15GB per month of bandwidth, then 12 cents per GB after that, so I'd expect it to be a few $. Obviously though, there's cheaper options than AWS out there - Linode include 20
