Yes, because I can't guess what the world will be like in 20 years time, but I am 100% certain that I'll want to be working with the insanely powerful computers that we have then.

I think there's something to it about the active choice of a shaved head - I started going bald fairly early (around 18), and shaving my head really seemed to change people's perceptions of me for the better. Of course, it could just be tha

Try paying with a US dollar anywhere in western europe. I'm pretty sure you'll end up with a weird look, unless perhaps you're massively overpaying.

Off topic really, but there's people willing to write pretty much anything for $15 an hour. That's what you'll pay the company that employs them, they obviously won't get paid it... Here's 1 easy to find example, note the advertised rate on

If the new Samsung Chromebook could run Windows, I'd get one of them, and stick a bigger SSD in it. Even in it's current crippled form, I'm tempted by putting Ubuntu on it. http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1293349/samsung-serie...

Hibernation over shutdowns massively improves the shutdown and startup times of my work PC. Primarily because I have SQL Server on it for development - the services have a extremely long shutdown and startup time, which doesn't need to happ

If they wanted it to be revenue neutral, they'd simply say "Any .co.uk now gets .uk free, except where there's a conflicting .org, .me or .ac", where there'd been to be some kind of conflict resolution process (possibly as simple as oldest

By default, Android devices are locked down in 2 ways - you've not got root, and you can't install unsigned non-market apps (though trust of market apps is somewhat of a joke). You can obviously gain root, and you can easily tick the box to

The detachable keyboard models are nice, but to me, the only thing that makes the Transformer a tablet rather than a laptop with a detachable screen is the OS used. Assuming Windows 8 does ok, I think we'll see a lot more devices in this fo

This reads like a nice revenue grab by Nominet. You'll still need to own your .co.uk if you're a business, or else you'll have a squatter on it before you can blink, but now you'll be paying Nominet's fee of around £20 a year for a .uk, and

If you have a tablet, and almost always carry a keyboard to go with it, then really aren't you saying that a laptop would be the right solution? Tablets are definitely moving towards being general purpose computers, but they're not there ye

It's not meant to be easy, and it never will be, but it has to be the goal. If you want to make niche software, Yahoo is not the place to go it, anymore than Unilever is the place for people who want to make small amounts of high qualty han

To me it would inspire ambition, not fear, but I guess it depends on the listener. If you work at Yahoo (or Google, or Facebook), and the product you want to work on ins't going to affect 100 million users, then you should probably be worki

It's just misleading nonsense to call this a supercomputer, with or without the quotes around it. I dug out this article from 2007 about building a 26 gigaflops "supercomputer" called the Microwulf Supercomputer which cost under $2500 [1].

Asus have aparantly already denied this, not that it means much. [1] It seems pretty unlikely to me, most of the $99 tablets available on AliExpress are significantly underpowered, especially around the areas of battery and screen quality.
