scrypt is a key derivation function, not an encryption algorithm. Tarsnap still uses AES-256 CTR mode for encryption.

I recently did Secret Santa app too, but it is frontend only (no server side, to be ran with all people present). I did it mostly to play with AngularJS, but it has some nice geeky features like using truly uniform shuffling and Fortuna PRN

Somehow there was Emotion/Psychology loop there. Now it goes even further, than yours image, the loop is Argument/Philosophy now. Clearly, wikipedia is changing or tool was enhanced :)

I'm also in this position. Although I have a degree in CS, our area have almost no jobs, where I can work and grow as a programmer, and with remote work, people tend to not trust anyone without experience, sadly.
