Fantastic to hear! I don't even want to think about the horrors that 4 years of heavy core changes would do to a language.

I've been working with rust for about a week now and I've found it a mirror of go in several ways. Go aims to be simple with the aim of being 'easy' to start writing idiomatically within a few days of jumping into the la

Perhaps off topic, but I have to ask: did you make it to the teahouse on Lake Agnes? It's absolutely fantastic to take the hike then relax at the top with a nice cup of tea!

If you're considering Canada on the exchange rate, try out Banff or Jasper in Alberta; they're national parks and wonderfully maintained. Enough beautiful hikes to keep me entertained for the last decade. I've found going ove

Why list all of those variants without referring to byzantine paxos at all? Byzantine failure is everything except a clean end of participation; perhaps its worth mentioning the flavor of paxos that can deal with it.

Actually the color inversion is probably a 'filter: invert(100%)' turned on by js; I tried peeking through the DOM and didn't see it, so I may be wrong. If filter performance is an issue, they could force gpu rendering by app

That was an interesting read! tl;dr: Bittorrent and extensions can be exploited to cause a reflected DDoS. The spiciest method exploits Message Steam Encryption(MSE) which combines the dynamic port nature of bittorrent with just-sufficient

It doesn't help that transitioning to digital is hilariously difficult. Even with a properly managed team, moving 20+ years of edge cases and odd interactions for a turing complete game is going to be difficult. The fact that they need

In theory blogging on github issues could actually be quite convenient. - Great(==standardized) markdown support. - Easy image support. - Uptime is someone else's problem. - Sending someone your blog also directly links them to your ~e

That was actually the "make it work" portion: I was attempting to grab some 10 full set prices at a time for a gallery feature and managed to crash the influxdb.

It was pretty awful watching the vps choke to death when I tried implementing any feature using full set prices. Pegged at 99% cpu usage with the go garbage collector frantically trying to not let the process crash... that was not an enviro

I actually just migrated 20 million rows of Magic: the Gathering price data from influxDB to postgres this week. For a few days of effort, I decreased my query latency by an order of a magnitude; a full set query, roughly 270 cards, went fr

Events are a portion of polymer. Unhelpfully polymer 0.5 comes up first when I google for 'polymer events' so that may have led you to believe they were deprecated. https://www.polymer-project.org/1.0/docs

I have been using go-restful which lets you wrap documentation into the code. It generates swagger docs which are very nice to deal with. https://github.com/emicklei/go-restful

#8 is pretty great in that you can assign methods to custom types but not builtins. As an example, say I have []Card. If I want to sum all cards with a certain color then I could Sum(cards []Card, color string) but that is not great.

Magic is an interesting game just from an text analytics perspective. Using a source like mtgjson you get a reasonably sized corpus of text that looks natural enough for a human to comfortably grok but sufficiently templated to apply even n

In terms of events, isn't Alt + Left-Arrow equivalent to left arrow if they don't consider the 'Alt' flag on the keyevent?

They hijacked left and right arrows for switching articles, a change which the majority of users would likely agree is a 'good change'.

Being limited to in-order execution, won't the overall IPC be limited by Amdahl's law as a result of issues such as pipeline stalls? Out-of-order will take as much space and power as you can throw at it but there's a reason w

Thought about that as soon as I saw it returning rasters. SVG would be best offered alongside as an option; it requires more effort to use than just a png. Perhaps a 'vector' to accompany each 'image'?

Its awesome that Dart effectively set the standard for SIMD in the browser. If you get a chance, take a look at Dart. It's not a compact language but it experiments while applying a layer of polish to browser apis that preserve sanity.
