The feature set of Facebook is much more complicated than WhatsApp. Most of WhatsApps features come out of the box with ejabberd too (which is what they used in the beginning). Is it really a fair comparison?

Bitcoin has major scaling problems and is very likely going to fail to deliver on your last sentence. As much as I don't want it to be true, it's more likely that banks will control the blockchain with something like R3.

There really is no secret. Just go do it. If you're serious about it then incorporating becomes a good idea to protect your assets. I would suggest starting with family and friends at reduced rates to build a portfolio.

Dang. I literally just finished building my first app with React Native/Parse two days ago. Was really amazed by how easy the stack was to get production ready, but now? Heigh ho, heigh ho, its off to work I go... :(

First thing that came to my mind when I read this was how the ancient Egyptians used spices in their mummification process [1]. I guess history repeats itself once again. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2001

I think in general, More People Are Becoming Inventors. Shows like Shark Tank, Dragons Den, etc. have made starting a startup (a.k.a inventing) a mainstream thing to do, and it is (slowly) becoming more common.
