"More-or-less", or "less-or-more"?

Folks keep saying a certain phrasing is "natural", but that is a funny word. It isn't innate/instinctive. Grammar comes from years of exposure to other speakers of language.

That's what linguistics is . Grammar is as natural as walking. Almost everyone does it, and no conscious understanding of the rules is required.

In this day and age, why not watch a YouTube video or read slideshare, instead of snowballing the judgement of people you have never met?

You may be interested in research into how some groups are more productive when they work collaboratively rather than competitively, and how women are disproportionately better in collaborative environments. I don't want a team full of the

This is not true, in practice. Women report having better experiences when there are many women around, vs being the only one in the group.

And here we see how ridiculous is the claim that technical and educational issues are the drivers of a conference.

Pause for a moment to reflect on the extreme assumptions you are making.

Your assumption that a total ordering of paper quality exists, that is holding you back.

Your comment is so thick in assumptions (students objectively know who is better at whatever metric you have in mind?) that you are proving the case that traditional metrics are untrustworthy for selecting meritorious candidates.

You are misunderstanding what "egalitarian" means.

Conferences are for mingling. Education is far off the low end of the agenda.

Or that the tests are correctly telling you that your proposed change will break your clients.

Apply the same thinking to the feature code you write as well.

If you have a general feel of the community, your community is very small. Is your community full of laptop researching prototypers, or million request per second distributed system operators?

Yet is still better in general to solidify your gains into repeatable tests, instead of throwing away all your research. To the GP, yes, the less you write tests, the more your code base rolls up into a giant ball of hair and wax, and you c

To be clear: a broken product that was actively annoying users and that no one knew how or had energy to fix, got fixed by a Go dev, and you are saying that is NOT a point in Go's favor? Maybe if Reader were written in Go, it wouldn't have

If I were charitable, I would say that the Go version supports horozontal scaling and external caching and queue buffers in a way that the BIND does not.

Accidental NoTrueScotsman alert. If a Googler thinks Go is awesome and builds a bunch of stuff in Go, what happens to that Googler? They become member of the core Go team!

Well, we could have, say, evolved a hand shape optimized for carrying our young, despite suboptimal tool weilding. But we didn't (according to this research anyway). So the headline correctly states the claim of the research.
