This whole discussion is aabout misguided. You don't fix inequality by shuffling who is at the top of the pyramid. You fix inequality by flattering the top to a wider plateau, or by raising the level of the base. We don't need to repopulate

Come on. At some point you have to expect some level of familial responsibility. You can't on the one hand blame rich people from enjoying handouts (grandpa's money) and on the other hand blame rich people because poor people refuse handout

The problem has has nothing to do with Iowa's status and everything to do with the banks+consultants hijacking of wealth in America. You don't need to fix the schools, you need to fix the wealth structure. There is no value in replacing a p

Ivy league schools have need-blind admission and incredibly generous aid packages: they are free for low income students, so your comment is off topic for this post.

Not sure about windows, but Chrome definitely renders differently between Mac and Linux-- which is why Google Drive Presentations are not cross-platform -- spacing between objects gets messed up when you switch.

You see the effect in math because math requires the sharpest most complex pure thinking. Other major creative efforts (business, movies) involve collaboration and social/organizational structures that benefit from years of relationship-bui

You are misunderstanding the statistical theory. The xkcd comic was making a joke about misused priors. You have no reason to believe that this paper used a wrong prior and peer reviewers overlooked it, nor have you examined the choice of p

The employee was declining to discuss the situation with a reporter. It isn't a coverup of a whistleblow, nor was the reporter their to help the employee. If the reporter was concerned for health more than story, the reporter would have mad

What do you mean? Nothing in that post is related to Lisp parenthesis syntax. It is a post about expressing a custom mathematical syntax in valid Haskell. (Which is obviously a clever game and not a meaningful endorsement of the syntax, sin

Wow that is entirely wrong. You don't figure out how you are going to get things done in a 10 minute meeting. You quickly call out where you are and if you are stuck, so people know who to needs help, or who can give help, or what needs to
