If you think private equity will be milder, you're in for a bad surprise. Most of the enshittification you see around you stems from private equity.

I'm not sure if this is true though? Granted I live in Europe where topics like these get a lot of attention, but I can't recall when I last saw a plastic bag drifting about, both home and abroad.

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading somewhere that single use plastic bags are so cheap from production to destruction that they still make more environmental sense than totes and the like. Yes, the cotton b

Being a good fit for a given purpose doesn't mean that something is in good taste. That piece of code is very performant, yes, but I'm pretty sure none of us would want to meet it in code review, save for a few niche edge cases. T

Having a vulnerability is very different to getting hacked though. To date, there hasn't been a single breach of Estonia's ID system itself as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong? And that's saying something given the

In some other context I'd be inclined to agree, but I swear the moment there's an open benchmark, it's going to get gamed by someone. So long as there's money to be made, the incentives don't align, look at Volkswag

I don't really see what you mean? It's well known and widely accepted that environmental factors influence gene expression. Social factors are a very large part of our environment.

If you're compiling millions of documents, many with thousands of pages, you probably need something very universal. LaTeX is boring tech, off the shelf, ready to use. It might take some work to figure out the initial setup with regard

The whole point of confidential computing is that the cloud provider can't access your data and can't tell what you're doing with it. This is a must have requirement in many government contracts and other highly legislated fi

Maturity can be many things, but complaining about internet brownie points is not one of them, at least as far as I'm concerned. People disagree with all kinds of things and that's fine, that comes with the territory of having an

Replace Shopfiy with Microsoft, Oracle or etc and surely you can see what worries people might have around a move like this. Just because a company has a positive imago does not mean that their motives align with that of the community.
