Thanks for taking the trouble to come over here and correct me. Monkeybagel was great. I laughed pretty hard at it when it came out.

Easy solution. I simply deleted my LinkedIn account. :-) Not sure how that would have affected existing sessions.

It was vacuous, basically an extended resume for the presenter, mixed with empty platitudes about principles for clojure evangelism. And worst of all in terms of wasting my time, it was misrepresented. It comes across in the blurb as a ta

Datomic is super cool design-wise. It'd be great to see some apps actually using it.

My information is a few years old, and hearsay, but I gather that research focuses on locomotion because the worm moves differently than the wiring would imply. Which suggests that this mouse brain wiring will have less immediate utility t

It goes deeper than that. They've been working on Service-Oriented Architecture for over a decade. I think I heard that Monkeybagel was a satire of Amazon's SOA push. http://monkeybagel.com/monkeybagel.html

Exactly. The thing is, if some app becomes the way to access a Craigslist forum, Craigslist effectively loses its network advantage. If Padmapper really takes off, do you think it will hesitate to start offering rental advertising itsel

Thanks for the correction, good to know. In the example you describe, the main mismatch seems to have been getting the two Ruby runtimes to communicate effectively. Was that a common theme?

That was embarassing, and 20 minutes of my life I regret losing. Even the speaker appeared to be embarassed at times. It's interesting that this thread has stayed on the front page of HN all day. I wonder how many people upvoted/participa

It should interact pretty well with JRuby on Rails, but I'm not sure you would get any benefit from using rails over a Clojure web framework like Noir.

You'd probably find Harry Markopolous's No One Would Listen interesting. He's a bit of a nut, but he's the one who dobbed Madoff in repeatedly, to no effect, and he goes into great detail about the brokenness which makes this possible.

You could check out the first few pages of google scholar for "evolution of language" restricted to "since 2011" for a start. E.g. http://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev-anthro-...

It would be great to read some war stories about small companies which started with a "just ship it" mentality and ended up adopting these practices. Designing with the practices in mind would be the best approach, but that's a lot of extr
