In clojure, you can do it with a macro [1]. There's also the recent schmetterling [2] [1] https://coderwall.com/p/xayyvq [2] https://github.com/prismofeverything/schmetterling/

Somehow I got on an email list which low-tier universities use to spam potential students like this. He's right, they really are desperate for fresh blood.

It'd be interesting to read survey statistics on who's leaving FB and why. Is there anything like that out there?

I had a bit of trouble adapting to the kinds of results I was getting and what sort of language I used when searching (I didn’t realize how tuned-in to Google’s search algorithms my subconscious had become), but after

I understood exactly what had happened the moment I read the title. I don't think it was sensationalistic at all.

I guess he's writing for die-hard NetBSD users, because he doesn't make much of an effort to explain why anyone should care about the project anymore. (I would be interested to know why.)

I'm curious: does some kind of statute of limitations apply to Assange's case?

There are already plenty of equally viable options for cheaper. I hear good things about https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/client-support/ , and it is about 1/3rd the price.

I think you're absolutely right that the price is going to keep dropping, and that's the scariest part to me. Wait till criminals start using weaponized drones. Then life's going to get really interesting.

Even if this were true (and there's no reason to believe that Google Chrome is being used in this way), there's still the open-source Chromium browser.

How can the security be comparable? I would have thought that the kernel shared between containerized processes presents a much bigger attack surface than a virtual machine monitor does.

Anyone interested in the history of the NSA should read Matthew Aid's The Secret Sentry . It's very, very good.

Yeah, I stopped reading the MSM in 2003 when Juan Cole was blogging about stuff which didn't appear in mainstream sources until months later.

You might try The Tangled Web . I've only read a few of the early chapters, but those at least seem good. http://nostarch.com/tangledweb

Regarding statistical biases, you can always pipe expected distributions through the test and compare to the expected transformed distribution using chi-squared.

I was commenting on a problem with the argument that they shouldn't be used because they may have a racial bias. I don't really have a position on whether credit reports are a useful tool in hiring decisions.

It's unethical (and stupid) to use IQ tests for hiring decisions because they have very little predictive power with respect to job performance. If a measure has such predictive power, it's not necessarily unethical to use it just because
