It’s exactly that. They are buying the base model just for that. You are not going to do much local AI with those 16GB of ram anyway, it could be useful for small things but the main purpose of the Mini is being able to interact with the ap

You remember well, they didn’t update these last fall. And another rumor said these are going to be updated again this fall but I’m not sure about that. With OLED screens and M6 (supposedly).

imo the Pro are for serious creative types who do either 3D modelling, illustration, photo editing, video editing or music. If you just browse the web and stuff like that you might just get a regular iPad.

Not even a maxed Mini with 64GB of ram is useful for local inference related to OpenClaw, that is not the reason people are getting a Mini for that, they get the base model with 16GB because it’s the cheapest device that can interact with y

Everyone recommending a Mac Mini for OpenClaw is recommending the base model (which has just 16GB of ram), so it’s not about the unified memory, it is about the agent being able to interact with your apple ecosystem services like reminders,

With a likely price increase. Regarding OP, I don’t think they implied this will last forever, but is definitely concerning.

Valve had to delay a bunch of new products already. They also had to effectively discontinue the non-OLED Steam Deck due to the increased prices. https://www.theverge.com/games/874196/valve-steam-machine-fr...

I know, but which open model that fits in there is useful enough for OpenClaw? I don’t think there is one. If you look at the videos and blog posts where they recommend getting a Mac Mini for this are recommending the base model (which come

The amount of ram available on a Mac Mini is not good enough for a decent open model for OpenClaw, everybody is using remote AI services on those.

Even Apple is looking into them as providers. And imagine what the money Apple can provide in advance can do for their manufacturing needs if they are serious about securing memory supply for their product lines.

I’ll never forget the PS2 US launch. I visited the US for holidays and landed just the day before launch. I thought I was going to be able to get one unit the next day if I asked in a few shops if they knew they were going to have stock. Af

I think any of the decent open models that would be useful for this claw frency require way more ram than any Mac Mini you can possibly configure. The whole point of the Mini is that the agent can interact with all your Apple services like

You don’t, but for those who would like the agent to interact with Apple provided services like reminders and iMessage it works for that.

They recommend a Mac Mini because it’s the cheapest device that can access your Apple reminders and iMessage. If you are into that ecosystem obviously. If you don’t need any of that then any device or small VPS instance will suffice.

I visited China in November, the amount of different brands of electric vehicles is staggering. And even small hotels had robots delivering packages or food to the rooms. What impressed me the most is the amount of EVs on the streets.
