Obviously it may never crash, and it never did, even with a bad comparison function. But the JS engine does not protect against the page containing JS code that loops forever. How would it even do that? Edit: Perhaps some misunderstanding:

Cool stuff. Is Glidesort1024 still stable?

That's usually called Introsort, but I think you'll find that most of these still consider at least the middle element for a pivot, so they still have a more complex cache behaviour than the naïve linear sweep from both ends of a

In practice, to avoid worse case quadratic time, you have to have a rather involved pivot selection in Quicksort. Eg nine random or evenly distributed elements which you put in three groups of three and take the median of the median. Collec

If you provided an inconsistent comparison function I don't see how it's the sort implementation's responsibility to produce a sensible output. Or even to terminate at all.

I hacked it up in Toit :-) Not the prettiest code, but it's in the examples directory at https://github.com/toitware/toit-png-display if anyone cares.

As ben_w points out elsewhere in the thread, renewables are so cheap that losses matter less than you think. Put another way: Today in Denmark, electricity is free. Literally 0 cents (øre) before taxes and transport fees (of about 5 cents,

If the object is immutable you can't really tell if it was passed by value or by reference. It becomes an implementation detail.

Here's a better list. * Performance is very bad. * Misspelling a variable creates a new one. * __init__ is a really terrible name for the constructor. * Type annotations are ignored, so nobody bothers.

This is true and actually the animations probably understate it because they sort all the 4-element sections, then merge to 8-element sections etc. The actual implementation in Toit does depth first, so eg. the leftmost 8,8->16 merge is

I think part of the benefit of vim for RSI is that there's not much chording - pressing two keys at once. When not using vim you often need control characters on the left hand. Ctrl-C Ctrl-V Ctrl-X Ctrl-A are all on the left. Also, for

Strangely there already is one between Scotland and Wales and two more are proposed (see the article). I suspect NIMBYism is a big part of the explanation. Airborne AC links are efficient but ugly. Underwater AC links are tolerated by Nimbi

Interesting vulnerability. Having just written a DER parser I found the format way more complicated than expected. For security, simplicity is better. Note that every time you connect to an HTTPS web site, your browser is attempting to pa
