Agreed. A good way to get better at coding is to go completely offline without any books or help whatsoever. Write as much code as you can from memory and try to solve your problem with your own existing knowledge.

BI are masters of click-bait. Which makes them masters of spreading untrue statements.

What's with the downvotes? The notion of a "greatest year in the history of the world" is silly.

"Every time I run it, I give it a set budget, say $50. It grabs a random word from the Wordnik API, then runs an Amazon search based on that word." You're right.

I think that's what it does: http://randomshopper.tumblr.com/post/35454415921/randomized-... It also bought him a Chomsky book on Linguistics and a electronic music CD. And if the bot did that on it's own that'd be a little too spooky.

Nimble 250. I worked at places with 25 people that weren't close to anything I'd consider "nimble".

"If you can distill your idea to its kernel of truth and launch that, and don't get customers, that's either a big marketing problem, or the market saying it doesn't need your solution." Right.

Okay, one MacGyver solution - Buy one user account - set up a ton of aliases. Set up filters to Gmail inboxes. Yeah, that feels dirty... I know.

Damn. That's a bit nutty. So they obviously don't hire devs-turn-journalists. Probably cost too much.

"when douglas crockford went to paypal, they churned out their normal thin tosh, but topping it off: thinking java and javascript are the same thing (since been corrected)." - from Chris, one of the commenters. Damn. That's pretty inexcusab

"Part of Facebook’s appeal in those first days was that it was clean, protected space very different from the all-too-public hurly-burly of MySpace [10]." That's it, really. It was an elite college kid social network. Now, anything but.

They booted the guy who headed up the Windows product line. They can claim success and "greatest OS ever" all they want but it's clear to me that MS isn't thrilled.
