Yes, I do hack my body language, though not in the ways described in the article. Through college, I had a weak posture, submissive body language, and tended to fidget/move around. I often looked goofy. About six months ago, I decided to im

I come to Hacker News to learn new things. I agree that it's amusing; I disagree that it's useful. If I saw this on Digg, I would digg it. If I saw it on Reddit, I would grumble to myself about the direction Reddit has taken in the past yea

My best interpretation as to the point of this image, and/or this submission, is to test whether any pg-created content will automatically rise to the top of Hacker News regardless of its actual merits.

I recommend Herb Sutter's classic Guru of the Week articles: http://www.gotw.ca/gotw/ There's a lot of usually-uselss arcane stuff in there, but also a lot of valuable information.

One of the factors that lead Reddit to become unreadable, in my opinion, was the proliferation of editorializing headlines. When the headlines begin presenting ideas that are too large a subset or superset of the actual contents of the art

Let them find a way to use it. When I was in high school, I played Robot Battle, a game in which you scripted behaviors for automated tanks. This gave me immediate reason to use and learn much of what I learned in math at school. The day we

I have no interest in seeing this or other polls on the Hacker News front page, but if others want it I'm happy to contribute to it (all it takes is a click, after all). And yes; one of the worst things that happened to Reddit was the proli
