Not sure how you came up with that. No, I'm for significant tax increases on extremely high income. What I was saying is that change to the tax code is needed because depending on the good will of the rich is just about the most naive

Solves absolutely nothing because most wealthy people won't do it, and I can't necessarily blame them. If it were me, I'd rather donate money to a specific cause than send more to the fed, and many won't do either volunt

Comparing a population of ~329M to a city of 1M seems a bit silly. Scale that and you get 121 deaths / million. That's unfair the other way as we're comparing conditions a large city rural areas of the US as well, but since w

In what way would it not? I'm free to call you or anyone else a jerk if I like, but I'm barred from calling you a pronoun you don't like? As if that in any way would change my view of the issue? As if it's anything more

Didn't you just answer your own question? The market for $5k+ televisions is pretty small, especially when they're unlikely to be better on paper than what you'd get for half the price from another brand.

I apparently screwed up on the edit, but only two versions. I do not disagree with you. I can no longer edit. I blame my phone and fat fingers. It's a mess now. The gist of my original comment was "I agree with you".

It depends on the settlement agreement, but they don't typically go back to the defendant. In this case, I found one source without looking up the actual agreement https://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2

I think you interpreted what I said in the worst way possible, and again, it's incredibly difficult to prove damages. We all know they exist, but if you can prove them you don't need a class action.

The settlement is meant to be punitive, not necessarily amount to a windfall for you. It's not terribly easy in a case like this to even prove damages. And no, it wouldn't be better to let them off the hook completely. I'm no

There would be no settlement at all without lawyers taking the case on contingency and fronting the costs.

Also, those relatively small investments of $100M will add up to a lot over time. At some point people are going to get a bit sour on the idea of acting like an angle investor with tax dollars.
