There's already a pretty good directory here: http://wiki.coworking.info/Directory It has none of the comfort features that desknear.me is attempting, though.

Bogus. Forget HR, if you're bullied your options are 1) switch department 2) file a police report 3) sue 4) switch company 5) move to a different town. If you're a kid, there is no option to switch 1) class 2) file a police a police report

That's the best post in this entire thread. People don't get bullied in adulthood because there is a working police and judicial entity. People get bullied as kids because there isn't one. Currently kids grow up for 18 years in a everyone-f

Nice work! The problem with zooming is that most webpages are not made for viewing from a distance. It's difficult to discern both the content and the identity of a site when zoomed out. Maybe you could try detecting the actual content (hea

Very cool! Jumping is a bit slow, so one needs to plan unexpectedly far into the future to avoid some enemy fire. Apart from that: great achievement, congrats!

Wow, what a brilliant concept. Needs a keyboard shortcut for "give me another one with the same query", though. Then it would be both media bliss and a wonderful way to chill out.

There was another C&H fulltext search engine at http://www.transmogrifier.org/ch/strips/index Unfortunately, the publisher forced it to close it down. Let's hope this one stays up longer...

Here's my take on this: We will never be able to read everything. The question is: will I spend my time allotted for newsreading by reading the most important things, or will I randomly read important and unimportant things. The real proble

Imho, Aeron chairs are overrated, because they lack good neck and head support. I use a Vitra Headline. Most comfortable task chair in the world. I can code on it for days without feeling that my head is getting heavy and I need to sleep. I

My thoughts exactly. Out of those 20 links, the author expressly asked the reader to click at least one link to understand his point. And that was a link to a picture that a good article could have easily embedded inside his article. I gues

Great idea. I assume you currently aren't saving embedded resources like audio files or flash movies? It would be even more valuable to a lot of people if you did.

The latest Photoshop (CS5) gets it wrong. For giggles I fired up pro compositing tool Nuke (www.thefoundry.co.uk), which has a choice of 8 resize algorithms, and 7 of them get it right. What that means? I guess that Photoshop isn't really r

I wholeheartedly recommend "Action Philosophers". http://www.eviltwincomics.com/ap.html Especially the Ain Rand section, which made it clear to me that you need to know how a person grew up to understand how they formed their philosophy.

Yeah but is the real-world antenna performance more than 18dB better? Probably not, because that would be revolutionary. So the net result is still negative.

That letter is a distraction. It's not about the bar display. The iPhone 4 drops signal by 19.8dB when held normally (compared to not being touched at all), while the previous one drops by 1.9 when held normally. http://www.anandtech.com/s

I think ones personal ethics are non-negotionable. Once I have set my limits, I will never work in a field that is off limits. Additionally, I believe you can always get a job without dropping your personal ethics. The market is huge - just

So, with a long enough record of the wobble at hand, could we tell the exact moment any recording ever made was made, much like Dendrochronology? And also locate the recording, due to the independent grids?

Have you considered automatic page turning by analyzing the microphone input? You would probably have to do 3 different position finding methods to gain enough stability. Like combining (1) FFT note pitch recognition with (2) some beat trac

I agree, combining note highlighting and smooth moving marker would seem to be the best way to go. It's probably best if the moving marker is a 1-inch-wide bar that is very subdued. In my head at least, this would work best.
