Unless GMail has overtaken it very recently, Yahoo Mail is still second only to Hotmail in terms of user base. The last I saw, both were ahead of GMail by a fairly large margin.

All of the conferences I've been to have had adjustable lanyards that attach to two corners of the badge, like this one: http://encosia.com/attachment/1067/ . Solves both the belly-length and flipping problem. I doubt I would wear a two-pi

Trading a few dollars in affiliate revenue for credibility can be well worth it, depending on the post's goals. Just look at how people react to Atwood's referral-laden product posts on Coding Horror, for example.

There's definitely a fine line to walk. However, it's not arrogant to keep whoever you report to apprised of what you're doing, why it matters to the business, and how you're accomplishing those things. Definitely no need to be a gloryhou

In my experience, people that feel chronically under-appreciated are also bad at self-promotion, and would be more appreciated if all of their contributions were actually known. Especially when you go above and beyond (the sort of thing yo

I'm not necessarily against fixed bid work; I do a bit of both depending on the situation. However, fear of being stuck at a particular rate isn't a good reason to avoid hourly billing. I've raised my rates at least a dozen times over the

Notice how he slid his hand around to hit the power/lock button as he was running the app, yet the table didn't reflect that (it wasn't locked). Seems suspicious.

Just to follow up on the noise, if anyone's interested (or happen to notice this followup comment at all), noise is not an issue. I received my 13" about 24 hours ago, and only heard the fan briefly while it was syncing my entire Dropbox.

I could be wrong, but I don't think translating between Silverlight and actual web development with an acceptable level of fidelity is realistic. If it were, ASP.NET WebForms 3.5 and 4.0 would have implemented something like that to begin w
