Keep in mind that json2.js' JSON.parse() ultimately uses eval() after a few sanity checks. Definitely better than a blind eval(), but not quite the panacea it's often purported to be.

It's more common than not for large organizations to prevent regular users from installing software, via group policy. Getting a copy of it isn't the problem.

Why not use the existing trust model in IE, as applied to ActiveX? Give users the option to trust WebGL on sites like Mr.doob and block it pending the user's explicit permission on untrusted sites.

Considering Hastings is on Microsoft's board and influences Microsoft at least slightly, it's hard to believe that their companies are opposites . I do agree that the article/idea makes little sense though.

I had the same reaction. Looking into the documentation[0], it turns out that you can also use a div with data- attributes instead, like this: <div class="g-plusone" data-size="standard" data-count="true"></div> [0] http:/

Combining this and a Kinect tracking head movement for interaction would be interesting. Imagine something like that as the routine music video experience on your TV in the future.

I must disagree. I've loathed Live Meeting for years, but Lync is stellar. I vastly prefer a Lync call/meeting to dealing with Skype.

I'm using a Herman Miller Embody. I had an Aeron before, and I personally think the Embody is absolutely worth the additional money.

Hopefully, there's not much to worry about when it comes to the people doing open source work and working on MVC. The ASP.NET team is moving with Scott. In fact, I'm hoping that being inside a business unit that more directly profits from

If you're interested in how the sausage is made, I believe Netflix uses Microsoft's Smooth Streaming[1] to accomplish that (I know they use it for the in-browser client, but am not 100% positive about the native mobile apps). Smooth stream

Nik gave me a demo of Glimpse at MIX last week, and it was truly impressive. If you develop ASP.NET apps, you must get this. As powerful as Visual Studio's debugging tools are, Glimpse is an amazing complement.

I think the fact that they demoed IE10 running well on a 1.0ghz ARM, coupled with last year's emphasis on Windows 8 running on an ARM device, speaks volumes about the future. Windows has had HTML/CSS/JavaScript "native" apps since Vista. I

For what it's worth, I can confirm that Gmail IMAP legitimately is unbearably slow for some of us (conversely, the web interface has always been snappy for me, though I know it's been terribly slow for some). To the point that I gave up on

There's danger in trying to out-think other sites, holding back on upgrades with the expectation that everyone else will do the same. If everyone did that, no one would ever upgrade at all. On the contrary, I think that the sites which mat

You lose almost all of the caching benefit when you use the "latest" version references, like 1.5. They're (necessarily) served with a very short expires header, as compared to the specific versions' +1 year.
