I've been using a Surface RT for about three weeks. I've never experienced anything like what he's describing. Further, there are apps already in the store for some of the things he mentioned no official apps being available for. Dropbox

I've been using Windows 8 as my primary OS for nearly a year and a Surface RT (which has successfully replaced my iPad and MacBook Air, so far) for a little over three weeks now. I've only had trouble with the Store app once, and that wasn'

I haven't typed in Word on the Surface for a solid hour yet, but it hasn't bothered me in the x86 version on my desktop over the month or two I've been using 2013 there. Like joenathan said, it completely blends into the background pretty q

I had the same typing performance issue when using the preview version of Office 2013 that shipped with my Surface RT, updated to the RTM version today, and the typing performance is fine now. The characters even appear with a quick reveal-

Same here. Windows 8 is a clear improvement over Windows 7 once you acclimate to the new interface (which you only need to spend a tiny fraction of your time using anyway). I've noticed that a lot of the criticism comes from people who trie

It's a common misconception that Web API is built on or tied to MVC. It's not though. You can use it in a WebForms site just as easily as in an MVC site. You can even self-host Web API outside of IIS entirely. Also, Web API isn't intended t

The automatic support for routing to .mobile views is really nice, for one thing. The small improvements to Razor (e.g. automatic ~/ parsing and conditional shortcuts) are also nice time/trouble savers.

Install Windows 8 and stay in desktop mode. It's faster and has nice improvements to things like task manager, file copies, etc. There's no need to spend significant time in the "metro" part of Windows 8 if you don't want to.
