I really enjoyed this analysis. I guess that I noticed some differences between Twitter and Mastodon, but did not have this kind of nuanced insight on them. Quite interesting.

Yes, it’s what they have said is their main ‘gateway’ now. They still maintain the old one for the time being. Their Rust Router is more performant. They are into Rust a lot - their CLI (rover) is also written in Rust.

At the moment Apollo offers a new ‘Apollo Router’ apart from the Apollo Gateway. It’s meant to substitute the Gateway. The Router is written in Rust while the Gateway was a Node.js server.

The ‘free’ part in ‘free and open source software’ refers to the freedom given to the user of the software to read, modify and distribute the software that is provided to them [1]. It refers to that freedom and is independently of the price

Fortran is still used today for scientific computing. Lisp is used by Emacs users as a scripting language. I personally used BASIC a lot back in the day, but more Pascal, actually, which had a fantastic text-based IDE. It deserves a place i

It’s a pity to see Ruby’s decline, it’s a nice language. I hope that Crystal gains some traction at some point. Cristal has syntax inspired by Ruby but it’s a compiled language.

I've found it a little bit difficult to join your beta. For example, a form asks you to select an editor. You can only select one. If you select something other than VSCode, it doesn't allow you to join. I use both Neovim and VSCo
