Thank you :) I will probably need it in real life in the next couple of months for a computergraphics project. So I thought, why not make it look nice and put it up there. Happy, if it helps someone!

Wait, isn't Erlang the exact language of choice for that? I read the title and thought - Oh, nice, an article of Erlang. It seems the perfect fit ...?! Why reinvent the wheel?

I won't know, if you find some^^ I consider myself as decent (but not genius) programmer and you might find some cool code snippets, but probably not in this project ;) For me this was more about the endresult and getting compute shade

All right, here is a small video of the simulation: https://vimeo.com/151682787 But after all this recording, converting and uploading, the quality is a bit down... If you like it and have the necessary hardware, I would re

I think, there is a possibility to not use the core-OpenGL but kind of upgrade to the legacy-version. But I don't know much about that...

Yes, you are right, it is more like a proof of concept for myself. And as it seems, there are people (similar thread on Reddit), for whom it might help. Just wanted to share, as there were not too many working projects out there with comput

Hmmm... Can't really help you there. Are you sure, your OS and graphics card supports OpenGL 3.3? That's really important!

It is in 2D, but displayed in 3D. So basically a 2 dimensional array with height-values in it. That then displayed as the water's surface.

That's funny, I don't even know, if I want to go that way. As of right now I am finishing my masters degree and working part time in IT-Security and Cryptography. It's going to be that or computergraphics. Any suggestions, id

Thanks! to answer a few of the suggestions: * There is in fact nothing really new about it. I know it exists and It was mainly me being interested in that topic. And I don't know, if I am ready to actually invent or think of something

I know, its kind of a bad style. But I happily blame university and my last job for it (They actually advised me to just comment in german for whatever reason...). As of right now, I only comment in english as it should be done. But you

Never tried so many points, maybe I give it a try later. I think it's part time the language choice and the fact, that my algorithm probably runs in Omega(n logn) but might not reach O(n logn)... Maybe you got an idea: My bottleneck i
