Oh, that's a pity - what app do you use to do that?

Unsurprising, the application doesn't fit in with the new styles, doesn't behave correctly with less-than-perfect location data, doesn't understand multiple location sources. I was quite a fan of finding how far I'd walk

Desktop, i7 3770, 6gb RAM, HD5970, RAID of 3 1tb drives and a 64gb SSD that I run Linux off of when I need to get real work done. Laptop is a ThinkPad x121e that desperately needs replacing.

Very fair point. A Mac will probably be my next laptop at this point. I was more talking about iPhone/iPad style locked down devices though :)

Many of us do dislike that Apple lock their hardware down. So I vote with my wallet and buy less locked down devices. The concern is that it will become increasingly difficult to find a computer that does not include this behaviour.

I don't see why a text asking for a phone call/meeting would be inappropriate. The huge message seems poorly suited to the medium.

Mainly oops left in my logs, one or two panics on shutdown. Once a panic when I was doing something silly with my uni research project. Pity I can't report these really, tainted (AMD) kernel.

I use it full time on my Desktop and my Laptop. It glitches fairly often but nothing unrecoverable. You'll mostly run into issues if you run out of space. Also there's some weird side effects with improper shut-down that you should note. Bt

Does anyone know if there is some company I could send off a schematic of the adapter he uses and have one sent to me? (This would be UK, but I have no idea what term I'm searching for to get a single circuit board made)

I always wish HTTP Accept was widely used to present alternate formats and presented to users in a nicer way. It basically solves all this kerfuffle, it seems oft forgotten outside of XML/JSON/HTML in api's though sadly.

It was confusing for a while and broke some stuff. I haven't personally experienced problems in a while though. Mistake? No. It fits in with Arch's personality and made sense. It'd have been a mistake for Ubuntu to do it at the same time of

I'm glad the world seems like a brighter place now. I didn't see your original request, but I know some of that feeling. Keep with it. Picking yourself up, and letting others pick you up is something to be really proud of.

Sadly, it seems neither Nvidia or AMD have specific plans for this: Nvidia http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTE5M... AMD http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTE2N... A great pity.

Competition is good. Ubuntu seems to have their reasons not to want to use Wayland. Maybe Mir is awesome. Then I can move to it. If it's not so awesome then like Unity and Upstart I can ignore it. Seems to me the enemy here is the old fashi

I agree. But then the great thing about Linux is we don't have to use the layman distribution. If someone wants to put the time and effort into making something that is great for my grandparents but awful for me then more power to them. Mea

Describing the S3 as an 'aged' phone seems a bit extreme given its successor is not released yet! But its good to see that Ubuntu Touch runs on a good selection of devices. I'm excited to try it out.

I suppose if you're going to this level of effort you want geeks of all flavours to appreciate the joke. I imagine Star Wars is probably the best 'rosetta stone' for this purpose.

Apologies. I mustn't have made myself clear. I was referring to documentation of features in general. One could of course extrapolate this to how Apple would handle LEDs, but it wasn't really my point. To clarify I really do like Android, I

Twitter uses Java. It seems to survive major events fine these days. I'd say it scales reasonably. You also have to take into account huge enterprise deployments. As for 'fast' it really depends what you mean. Nobody's going to dispute that
