I'm actually quite a fan of that little app - it works quite well. Possibly overpriced (should probably be free or 59p) but, importantly, it's simple and gets the job done. This seems like it has a lot of features I would never need or use.

Agree 100% - the layers of DRM detract from what makes Steam's DRM tolerable - the user experience. Particularly games like GTA when they require a login. Global logins with Steam are one of the best bits.

Not exactly minimalistic - though obviously it deals with a different scenario to the one the author describes. In a survival scenario where you can only take a few items then your priorities would probably be (this taken from a survival co

Agree on the wikipedia articles with no context point. Especially since the article in question is short with not very much real information on why it matters.

Fighting the Taliban is very different to fighting the types of armies that modern tactics are designed for, I can't speak for the US, but from what I have heard from serving UK soldiers the british easily win almost all firefights simply b

From what I understand, Apple is a distributor - not just the original developers. Because Apple is distributing they have the same responsibilities as any distributor to provide the source code and allow the code to be shared. And making p

To be fair I think we can all agree that Microsoft's use of these patents is strategic. Lots of things can be strategic. The question is whether or not its right - which, since software patents are involved, a lot of people don't think it i

The invite only thing was a really bad idea. If it was meant to be a developer preview it definitely wasn't widely percieved that way. If it was an attempt to build up a following in the way gmail did then it was a total flop. People are bo

Cory Doctorow's Craphound podcast has a reading from the book (not this weeks episode I don't think - but fairly recent - should still be in the feed). It's really worth listening to especially if you don't have time to read the book itself
