I actually did read the help text, but it only left me confused, because the lines don't clearly match up to the text boxes. I had a moment of "oh, where do I adjust the quality?" before I realized that it was just referring to the first te

Really? I ported an Atlanta number from T-Mobile to Sprint without a single problem here in Seattle. They did ask me for an Atlanta zip code during the process, but it never came up as an issue.

1984 days is more than five years. That's three years longer than the iPhone has even been out , and an absolute eternity in internet time. Is the current Apple situation obnoxious? Sure. Is that worth whining about for five years straight

I don't think this is a legitimate indicator. I, at least, often register domains when I have a reasonable idea, which can often be a year or more before I do anything with them -- if I ever get around to it at all.

My first reaction to kiw.is was "okay, this is pretty obnoxious for me as the link-follower," but after a little bit of thought it occurred to me that something like this would actually be perfect for links to anything that is potentially N

I think the headline here is somewhat misleading, based on the other responses thus far. It's not intending to teach web development using Seaside as the tool; rather, it's a tutorial on how to develop Seaside web apps. And while the fact t

Okay, I get it, it's funny... but seriously? You're a company whose business model depends almost entirely on Microsoft being around to write its software so your software can run it on other OSes. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

The author of that article actually wrote essentially a book on the matter, which is available online for free: http://www.edwardjayepstein.com/diamond/prologue.htm

Erm? Does it speak well of Amazon when it "boldly" presents negative customer reviews on its pages? I mean, yes, I think it's useful, but I don't think that presentation of user reviews reflects particularly well OR poorly on Mozilla.

We are both wrong on pieces of this. Nokia holds 56% of the entire market profit, in 2008 (the last year for which there is real data). RIM and Apple are projected to have 58% of the profits in 2009 , which I am a little skeptical on -

Not sure how you got your numbers. Even in your (somewhat biased) link it says Nokia has 56% of the profits of the entire mobile handset industry.

I tried the site in Opera 10, IE8 and IE8 in compatibility mode. None of the above actually allowed me to play a song. The sign up form is pretty awesome, though.

Disclosure: I work at Microsoft. Look, why is it so strange that Microsoft has a blog profiling people around the company who like their jobs? Are we supposed to cut ourselves every morning because we work for the "evil empire"? I don't und

It's wrong to the best of my knowledge. I've never heard of such a thing and I know several people who work on free software along with what they do at MS. That said, if you work on IE in your day job and want to contribute to Firefox on th

Seriously? While Blackberries, PalmOS, Symbian, Android and Windows Mobile devices have all let you load whatever the heck you want onto their phones over the past 5+ years, we are now going to claim that it's not that Apple doesn't have it

For what it's worth, if you'd made the identical comment about Windows Media Player you'd probably be at +10 by now.

Which, again, doesn't change the fact that if you already have a Windows 7 install (I don't mean RC, I mean final), you can use the upgrade DVD, blasting the old install away during the process.

I actually have a fair bit of experience with Squeak from college, but most of that experience tells me to stay as far away as possible. So I second this question: Anyone use Seaside on a decent Smalltalk environment?

Have you ever actually installed an "Upgrade" of Windows? You don't need to install Vista or XP first to use an upgrade version of Windows 7. Indeed, just having an old Windows 7 install on your machine is more than enough.

I think that focusing on the plan vs. guess argument is missing the point of the blog post. The argument they are making, at least to me, seems rather to be about avoiding the all-too-common analysis paralysis. Like they write in the post,

This comment is wrong bordering on the obscene. Does he think Bing, which competes with Google feature-for-feature, can be built by 30 people, while Google itself needs most of its 20,000 employees to build its search engine? The same goes

At this point you have to make an effort to download a browser that doesn't block popups by default. Even IE has been doing it since version 7.
