I really enjoyed Peter F. Hamilton’s take on this in the Night Dawn Trilogy, with his Edenists. A bit hopeful, but intriguing.

Certainly. But the lower the stakes, the easier it is to show integrity. Doing the right thing at no cost is easy. Integrity isn’t just about doing the right thing when no-one is looking. It’s doing right thing, even when no-one is looking,

It could work if we’re talking state-sponsored hackers. North Korea is well-known for that, although I’m not sure about ransomware, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia were into it too now.

Except that’ll just be a fluke. The next thing isn’t a never-ending list of AI generated games stored somewhere that we’ll have to sift through somehow. The next big thing will be ephemeral games, created on the fly based on the context an

As a kid we never lived in a country more than a few years. Now, everywhere feels a bit off. And I feel a bit off everywhere. Which, you are right, isn’t bad. Just odd. Unmoored is adequate.
