Hmmm I'll check it out, I last looked into this about a year ago. I'm pretty sure it still allowed a bunch of crap through that I didn't want them to have access to. edit: Oh neat they do have a parental approval mode in ther

Yeah its a weird one, the lack of this feature is whats making me stop giving them money and I wonder how many other families are in the same boat.

I don't really understand why Youtube won't let me create a profile, on my paid family account that I'm paying $29 NZD a month for, which lets me whitelist channels. I'm happy for my kids to have free access to certain c

This looks cool, I will check it out. I spent a heap of time about 15 years ago playing with various mosaic software before landing on https://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/ - I built an endlessly zooming mosiac fo

Yeah I begrudgingly paid increase when it went from $19 to $29 NZD a month. My friend in Aus just got an email saying they were putting his up to $39 from $29 a month… it’s not worth that to me. If anything it’s a great excuse to watch less

I'm kind of surprised how expensive this seems. I always thought NZ ended up paying through the nose for the internet but these prices all seem roughly in line with NZ except they're in USD which is about 1:0.6 right now.

Yeah you’re not wrong there. My fam of 4 went to see Minecraft when it came out, $80+ on tickets, another $30 or so on snacks. I’m not even sure enjoy watching films at the movies vs on my couch at home anymore. My big OLED has really put a

We were in LA 2 weeks ago and got to ride in a Waymo for the first time. We took a few 45min+ trips and would compared prices with Uber each time. Waymo was consistently cheaper, by a lot. $60+ for the Uber quote vs $20-30 for Waymo.

My workplace reposts the same senior dev ad each month. And we’re not reposting it because no one was good enough last month, it’s is we want all the senior devs, we’ve hired a few from there now.

It’s a shame nothing has really come along with the same functionality that the Flash editor had. The vector based graphics, animation and scripting all in one. And easily exportable to the web. Yeah you have Godot / unity etc etc but

Reminds me of a couple of Keith Clark's projects from a good 10+ years back https://keithclark.co.uk/labs/css-fps/desktop/ https://keithclark.co.uk/labs/css-3d-shadows/

I guess it depends on how many jobs you’ve had in the last 10 years. I’d only have 2 roles if I did that :)

So cool, I picked up some of these from my parents house a few months ago. My kids have spent a grand total of about 1 minute on them, very unimpressed :D

It’s also handy for making a special rule which can be toggled to totally block YouTube on the kids iPad.

What would be interesting is if multiple submissions could be made for each frame, and you could rank each. You could build a version of the best frames every year and watch it progress.

This looks like a great way to allow the kids to watch a “locked down” Version of YouTube. I want a way to limit what my kids watch on there by locking them down to certain channels.
