Thanks for putting to this together. I have a suggested modification. You are mixing references in your document. Re: '~$1 million: Cost to train a 13 billion parameter model on 1.4 trillion tokens The LLaMa paper mentions it took them

The largest PaLM 2 model is smaller than 540 billion parameters of PaLM 1 (let alone 540 trillion!). From the PDF "The largest model in the PaLM 2 family, PaLM 2-L, is significantly smaller than the largest PaLM model but uses more tra

The official specs for Raptor Lake don't include AVX512 support, so most likley this is just something that slipped through on your system. It might be "corrected" in later steppings or updated firmware. Some early 12th gen s

HAXM isn't really that relevant anymore. QEMU now directly supports using the HyperV hypervisor via the Windows Hypervisor Platform by using the "-accel whpx" option. This gives you the benefits of HAXM-like speeds in QEMU wi

Impressive to come up with this on his own, but possibly already patented. Tesla has been using magenets instead of airgaps in their Internal Permanent Magnet - Synchronous Reluctance Motor back in 2020. Hopefully his other inovations are m

The article does not talk about creating your own Javascript engine (ie v8, JavaScript Core, Spidermonkey). The actual article title is "Roll your own JavaScript runtime", which is more accurate.

Are the extraction rules in the stack-graphs repository or other public repository, or in a private repository? It would aid understanding to have a fuller working example.

If the commercial services aren't distributing ffmpeg, for instance they are running on their own servers, then they are only using, but not distributing ffmpeg, and aren't under an obligation to share source code. Since you are d

Content-based ad for proprietary closed source voice engine. Hints at SDK being open source, but it's just a Apache licensed SDK wrapper for binary only library. Not much to learn here unless you want a sample code for the Picovoice SA

"AlphaFold achieves a median score of 87.0 GDT". Game changing, and a huge improvement, but not 100% solved. Also this is for static folding. Dynamic folding and interaction is a much harder problem. Those need to be tackled too b

I agree. "AlphaFold achieves a median score of 87.0 GDT". While this is a major advance, to me 100 GDT would be 'solved', not 87.

It didn't break even yet. Looks like's its maybe half way. The ticket price is split with the theater, so the movie only gets part. You need the box office receipts to be larger (usually 2x+) than the production + marketing costs.
