I think you're mistaking me with someone else. Yep, I've seen and programmed many industrial robots. You would be surprised how easy it can be to kill a human with a swinging robotic arm, even a small one (such as the one here). E

Not letting people (and much less children) around industrial robots is not virtue signalling, it's basic safety and common sense. Where's everyone's protective headgear anyways? What if it starts spinning around because of a

No, there's something wrong with the people who go around this and don't say a thing because it's not even weird to them.

Yes indeed, trusting something I can see and compute myself instead of trusting someone's promises. There's no way blockchain will ever be worse than just having to go along with it because there's no way to verify.

Why wouldn't a sentient machine want to continue it's existence? Evolution doesn't have to come into play at all for these things to exist, that's just one way of making such biological machines.

Yeah but you're not doing schoolwork for its own sake, you're doing it to develop skills useful in real world once you're adult.

Oh no, that's definitely not a solution, but at least until someone comes up with software that is at least comparable, Microsoft is what we're stuck with.

Yeah, I bet it's been a lot of work. But that just underlines my point - you can't expect people to reinstall their school computers if it requires changing their entire network to something nobody there understands and the users

Well I'm just a support for that, but yeah I guess you could say that's what's being done around here (huge amount of managed assets and properties).

My own desktop also works like a charm with Linux, but that changes nothing about the problems I encountered at the school. Yeah I can imagine that not having AD makes things more complicated, but once you have it, it works very well on Win

Excel can do SQL as well, and it actually has abstracted data connectors capable of much more than just SQL and you can easily provide your own connectors too, and much more than just connectors - Excel is used e.g. as a full-fledged tradin

Well, once upon a time, I decided to break through the FUD, and convinced my local school to try teaching on Linux. Problem is, after three months of work, I wasn't able to reliably deploy the OS to a room of computers and connect it t

What exactly were they supposed to teach you in 90s and 00s? I was a rebellious Linux-loving computer geek kid during these times, but OpenOffice was incomparably worse back then (and other programming environments weren't as accessibl

I don't think it's going to be a real App Store anyways. It's going to be updater for their own apps - one without fees, reviews, UX demands and API restrictions, just like Play store. Facebook doesn't care about Play st

I don't see how regulators could forbid them without making a joke out of themselves. The whole point was to let apps choose - there are dozens of legit points Big Tech can claim as the reason. From fees to UX demands to review process

Play store has much less demands on your app UX, much easier and faster review process, takes much smaller fee and doesn't claim any earnings out of the platform and the OS isn't locked down too much. It's not 1:1 comparable.

Eh, so regulators explicitly force a platform to open up, and then they will go after people making use of that just in spirit of the law? That seems super weird to me, much weirder than the opposite - that MS/FB/Google stores are
