I think this is a very interesting response. If it's true, then their diversity goal will be reached when the makeup of Google workforce is representative of the world population (assuming world population correlates well with Google

It's great to be open and all, but they never mention what their goal is. Do Google believe diversity is good for workplace cohesion, their own social mobility goals, good corporate moral policy, etc.? The data is interesting in it

I'm so torn by all these comments about whether Detroit has 'bounced back' or not. On one hand, it certainly seems like salaries, wages, rents, and prices are rising in the Detroit metro area, on the other hand parts of the c

One argument for why this is a bad idea has its roots in politics. Imagine if a candidate running for office (or any public figure) had the ability to santitize his search results to remove all 'bad' listings. The public perceptio

This is surprising to me because Kayak uses ITA Software [1] which is owned by Google. Perhaps Kayak has better relationships with the airlines than Google and cultivates more accurate pricing this way. [1] http://www.itasoftware

I'm pretty torn on this. In my main circle of Snapchat friends, we use the app to make creative messages for each other that can't be seen again. It's really special because it feels like we're all hanging out again back

They could probably double their resolution with an IR sensor under the keys, transparent elastomer, and IR-transparent plastic for keys. But they did mention sampling at 300Hz was an achievement so maybe they're running into some embe

I worked on this concept for a school project [1] for the US market and I like the simplicity a lot. Are businesses pretty responsive in claiming their takeaways? [1] http://imgur.com/GhLBvb4

I'm too busy for something like this too, but I want to work on this pretty bad because, well, embarrassingly I'm a Catwang user. I think the 'insert randomly' is a nice feature, but if I were to work on this, I'd f

A laptop with a slide-out second (or third) screen for more screen space. Packaging and power consumption are big issues. Maybe a couple of years off until super thin, flexible OLED displays reach maturity.

I guess it's fairly obvious but it never really occurred to me that lobbyists and politicians go on retreats together. Is this beneficial? Is it ethical? Does ProPublica track these types of gatherings?

It's funny that defense and automotive are so similar in terms of tool chains for requirements. I like this IDE from an engineer standpoint, but I think the killer app will be automatic report-outs. I wouldn't have to spend hours

There are different ways of looking at this. Some I've come up with are ROI, happiness, and intelligence. If you quit working for two years and pay for school, will you gain money in the long term? When? If you are able to attend scho

From my perspective (automotive product development), this is called 'system design' or even 'product development'. We start from a use case, idea, feature 'want', whatever, and we move both up and down from t
