I’m not sure I fully understand the point. Is it that people won’t shop at a store if Visa isn’t accepted? If so, I agree that is one of many additional factors in the overall negotiations.

Imagine if you ran a $1B/year business with 10% profit margins and Visa took 2% of revenues. Profit before Visa is $100M, profit after Visa is $80M. If you negotiated Visa’s fees down to 1.5%, profit after Visa would be $85M. This is

There’s a lot that’s missing on the thesis that needs to be explored. 1) How repeatable is a market-network that the workflow can be standardized? 2) For repeat providers, how can you provide more value to stay than to disintermediate? Not

I was really upset at this comment at first. After thinking about it some more I like that it questions fundamental assumptions about the original question namely, “What happens if the deadline slips?” If the project is late, does the compa

I’d lean more towards their story being path dependent. My hunch is they had to go through lean times to be able to focus harder on customers and eventually create a product that could take the company to an IPO. If you’re not lean, managem

Is it not possible to sell a company that is currently profitable, cash flow positive, and is worth less than what investors had put in?

Sure but those preferences only really affect equity payouts when the company’s in distress. When selling the a non-distressed company, equity will receive cash.

This an interesting article because it reframes current immigration discussions from humanitarian issues to economic ones. I'd like to see more modelling on wage depression to see why this wouldn't have a widespread negative impac

Just a note with this post's structure: I'm surprised in this day and age of dealing with complex global economic systems that we'd upvote any post that starts with an absolute view "The correct solution..."

Awesome. I love they designed the scooter to facilitate a service model right from the get-go. Personally, I'm bearish on the light electric vehicle sharing model due to skepticism on the unit economics. Skip will also be a great piec

Just be because you can layout two axes on a chart together doesn't mean you should . There's enough differences between what is meant by "network effect" that it's difficult to understand why companies might be

I love the bus because it runs express from my Chicago neighborhood directly into the loop. I get on, play with my phone, and get off 25 minutes later. I don't have to fight traffic driving myself and I can multi-task if I choose. The

Tesla need to stop calling it 'Autopilot'. The name implies drivers don't need to drive and is most likely a big reason drivers are lured into a false sense of security.
