rand() doesn't do what you think it does. It's a multiply then an add, then return particular bits of the current seed. See "Linear congruential generator" for more information. On GCC, it's multiply by 1103515245

The page itself has a more accurate description (Winamp *clone* in swift for OS/X) than the headline here. Since the actual Winamp had a questionable source code release, it could feasibly have been ported to other platforms, so we nee

Adding noise to images sounds like a really bad idea. It will mess with any Javascript code which performs processing on images. Try writing a photo editor in Javascript and watch your browser corrupt your images.

Paint is subject to the effects of radiance. How paint looks changes depending on the surrounding lighting in the room, including the colors of other walls and objects which the light bounces off. So even if you could pick out a color fro

You don't have any old browser extensions by any chance? "Enhancer for YouTube" is an extension which has become unmaintained, and will break YouTube.

Ooh, the Z80 refresh line. You can have a program that writes to the R register in a loop and prevent the refreshes from happening.

One little issue there, Apple II is normally 40 columns, and the 80 column mode has incredibly skinny characters (with very little between-line spacing). This resolution looks a lot more like a DOS program than an Apple II program.

My personal take would be if it takes you to what's basically another page (such as the entire page being rewritten), then involve browser history.

Is there really a difference between writing a DOS program and writing a FreeDOS program? You just need a period-accurate compiler that can target DOS. Maybe OpenWatcom, maybe DJGPP. With HXDOS, you can also write a Win32 console-mode pro

EasyPrivacy has too many false positives, and no way to report them. If you are a techie who understands what the messages mean, and can click the button to proceed to a site on a false positive, then it's fine to have it turned on.

Pretty much yeah. You have your usual Win32 API functions found in libraries like Kernel32, User32, and GDI32, but since after Windows XP, those don't actually make system calls. The actual system calls are found in NTDLL and Win32U.

DOS programs ran in Text Mode, and directly interacted with the keyboard hardware. Linux Terminal programs are running in an emulated terminal, and are bound by keyboard input restrictions that DOS programs did not have.

The very first image in the article is not edit.com, it is the Windows 95 edit.exe which replaced it. The actual "edit.com" is a tiny stub that launches QBasic in edit mode, equivalent to "qbasic /edit".
