That's only true for induced drag, though. Parasitic drag is independent of lift, and would be reduced by flying higher.

That's nice. But while places like Sweden or the US have the per-capita GDP to pay for universal health care, Kenya really doesn't. (The US has 40x the GDP per capita) So would you rather that there wasn't even the option t

Pensioners are window-breakers, in today's society. They consume, but never produce. (This used to be less true, with grandparents providing childcare etc) This doesn't mean we should kill them all off! But the consumption of a pe

If there's a thousand people dying of pneumonia every day in Wuhan and you have capacity to test 2,000 people, do you spend half of that capacity on the dead? Or do you try and test the "maybe" cases who might or might not be

Another reason would be that on a day-to-day basis it's easier to say "yeah we had 100 deaths yesterday" than it is to say "we've been lying, there were 1,000 deaths yesterday and 10,000 so far with 500,000 infected

That's a very good argument for why gay marriage should be allowed, and IIRC the one that the supreme court followed. That doesn't mean that there aren't still people who would challenge the morality of such. Morals and leg

Well, many conservative christians would say that gay people already had the same legal rights as straight people - that being the right to marry (+have sex with, etc) another person of the opposite sex. To them, conflating "the righ

Well, the key isn't hardcoded in the browser implementation. (It's unique per-install) And I think browsers generally do a better job using OS security mechanisms to restrict access to that key, too.

So a theory I've had for a bit now... Google maps doesn't optimize for ease of travel, or time, or anything like that - it optimizes for engagement , like every other Google product. And how would you do that with a maps product?

Infections are doubling every few days, so yes most infections occurred very recently. If it takes a month from initial infection to declare someone "disease-free", then there might only be ~300 people to that point.

Dollar per kg to orbit of the Space Shuttle was pretty respectable - if you count the mass of the orbiter as part of the payload . If you don't, it's absolutely ruinous. (~$5,000/kg with orbiter, $20,000/kg for what it
